Leith goes solo at Joan

Irish roots: Dublin-born Damien Leith is performing his one-man cabaret show at Penrith's "The Joan" on January 17 to kick off the venue's 25th anniversary celebrations.
DAMIEN Leith is performing his one-man cabaret show at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre to open the 25th Anniversary Season.
After rousing success at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Leith will open a year-long celebration in song.
The musical play, which takes place in an Irish pub, sees Leith take on the role of both a father and a son as they get to the bottom of a deep secret that has haunted them both.
Filled with humour, emotion and great Irish music, The Parting Glass showcases Damien Leith talents in both acting and singing.
The show features worldwide smash hits Hallelujah and Wicked Game, as well as the Danny Boy, sung by one of Australia's favourite Irishmen, accompanied by the stirring Irish Times Band.
In Adelaide the show garnered praise.
Matt Byrne of the i in South Australia said: "Leith has clearly adopted Australia and from the crowd's ecstatic reaction the feeling is mutual."
The Adelaide Advertiser's Anna Vlach said the "rousing renditions of traditional Irish songs were a highlight."

Dublin-born Leith was the winner of Australian Idol in 2006.
He has won five ARIA awards as well as being nominated for two MTV Australia Video Music Awards, two Helpmann Awards and a further three ARIAs.
He has released seven studio albums since 2007.
All of them made the ARIA charts; two going platinum and one gold. Leith released a triple A side single, Last Goodbye/Fields of Gold/Girl Back on Blue Bayou in August.
Leith's range of talent is well known, so tickets to see this cabaret show are sure to sell fast.
