www.frasercoastchronicle.com.au/news/singers-advice-to-hopefuls/2640573/ Singer Damien Leith's advice to hopefuls16th May 2015 7:33 AM (There are a couple of nice photos - look at the link) A group of about 20 Riverside Christian College and Urangan State High School students gathered in a music room at Riverside for a special interactive performance by the former Australian Idol winner just hours before he entertained again at the Brolga Theatre last night. He said the school performance aimed to give advice he wished he had known when he was a teenager. "I'm hoping to cover three or four different topics: how to progress, make money and how to develop as an artist," Mr Leith said. "When I was 16 and starting out in music I made a lot of mistakes and I wish I'd had a mentor to guide me, so that's what I'm trying to do." The musician said, "Know yourself, what you're getting into and know what you want to get out of it." Mr Leith will conclude his tour tonight after performing at QPAC in Brisbane

I think so many reality show winners flop so badly because they think they have a free ride to the top, but are then overwhelmed by the actual reality of how things are once they are on their own. The reason Damien has enjoyed such longevity is because he was prepared to commit to the job and put in the hard work. It's lovely to see Damien giving advice to help out young up and commers.

Thanks for posting this article Braffy . Damien is so great at helping young musicians. This is something he does in his studio and his live performances on tour. We've all seen so many young folk being presented by Damien.

Catchie I think you are so right....dedication,hard work and commitment ....not an easy ride to stay and survive after winning a reality TV show...once the lights are gone and you have to do it yourself, or survive. I am sure Damien's survival has been for his family. Believe me that is enough motive to keep going and survive.
Dawn he is a fabulous mentor for other young musicians like you said.
Hey thanks for posting Braffy.
