REVIEW: The Cube Theatre was packed out on Saturday night as hundreds of fans enjoyed a night of Irish music from internationally renowned singer and song writer Damien Leith. The concert was part of a three day event to celebrate Bunbury’s Irish heritage hosted by the John Boyle O’Reilly Association.
The evening started with Fiona Rea accompanied by multiinstrumentalist Jon Edwards and percussionist sensation Marcus Perrozzi who performed Celtic rhythms before Leith took to the stage. Leith played some of the more well-known songs from when he was fresh off Australian Idol in 2006 and threw in a few from his Roy Orbison tribute album and the latest album, Songs From Ireland.
The audience got out of their seats as he continued to entertain the crowd for the better part of two hours. He threw in a little bit of Irish dancing and not to mention the sensational violinist who added a superb instrumental tone to the show.
John Boyle O’Reilly Association president Tom Dillon said it was a fantastic night and all of the planning had paid off. “The weekend’s celebration of music and craic (fun) brought smiles galore to those who are Irish and those who want to be Irish”, he said.
