Ten years ago today I joined this forum. Sometimes it feels like several lifetimes have passed and yep, totally as you'd expect, sometimes it feels like yesterday. For those of us who were here as you progressed through Idol it was an exhilarating experience to share our nerves and our joy each week. Then, after you so deservedly won, the early anonymous years were hilarious, outrageous fun, especially the huge Hut parties where up to 40 of us posted at breakneck speed, not just text but pictures, poems, songs and jokes. So many so quickly we'd crash the forum! That was THE BEST. Later, meeting up, forming friendships whilst going to gigs extended the joy as we watched and supported you building and consolidating your career. Too many great memories to mention here today. Many I'll never forget personally. (And some I'd rather. Baha! ) And now, here we are. A solid core of us still follow you around the country because we simply cannot get enough of that voice, that entertainer, that guy. Well done, D. You must be doing something right to inspire such devotion. Doesn't seem likely to end just yet, either. Lucky you! Lol!

Beautiful words Trilly, it's been an amazing journey Damien, so many highs, a few lows, special times and amazing friendships, I can't believe 10 years has passed by, every meeting, every song, every moment, these are times I will never, ever forget I never want any of it to end. Your music is magical, THANKYOU for it all I know there will be quite a few of us there for the long haul. Love you lots xoxox

Wonderful sentiments Princey and Trilly. I have also been a fan from the beginning - actually since I saw his first audition for Australian Idol. As soon as he sang, I went, "I want that guy to win!" I'm fairly new to this forum so I missed all the shenanigans that used to happen here. (Although I have had a look in the Big Group Hut archive, hehe) I've been to a fair few of Damien's shows and they have all been amazing. He is blessed with one of the most stunnig voices I have ever heard, and he is a very lovely man to chat to. Geting to give Damien my custom Pop Vinyl I did of him and hearing him say how much he loves it was one of the highlights of my life. He did take it home and put it in his studio as well

Hear Hear girls. Even though I wasn't on the forum from the beginning and missed all the 'excitement', I'm so happy that by chance Braffy dragged me from 'My Space' to join up DLO. So many wonderful friendships which I treasure and so thankful for the wonderful man who brought us all together, yes you Damien Leith. Your voice just captures me completely, it's so beautiful and keeps getting better (hard to believe I know) but it does! I can't get enough of the live shows, to me live is the best way to listen to those pure tones and those extraordinary vocals that have us all so entranced. I'm in for the long haul too, even if it means getting to the shows in a bloody wheelchair!!!

Thank you so much Trilly for starting this thread.
Damien, people have written some lovely things here about you. We ALL know that you are very humble and modest but please believe every word written here. We have all formed friendships with people from every State in Australia and Ireland and a good number of us have met up in other States for Damienfests or to see you in concert. We LOVE seeing and hearing you. We love reading reports from those who have been to your shows. We love that you take time even though you must be very tired to meet up and chat to your supporters after the shows, having your photo taken, signing CD's, books etc.
There is so much to like, love and admire you for. You are a true gentle man, gentleman, husband, father, entertainer, human being. The lyrics you write tell wonderful stories. The stories you tell in concert are funny and often at your own expense. You don't hide behind things that have gone wrong i.e. recording the wrong lyrics in Vincent, forgetting your own lyrics on the odd occasion. All of these things make you 'real'
Thank you so much for all the wonderful years and memories. I have so many personal memories that you have created and August 2009 will be a month that is in my mind bank forever.
Like the others, I can never hear too much of your voice.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
