Lizotte's Restaurant Newcastle March 10, 2018 Was great to catch up with my friends Marcia and Dian and Anny and Julie. We had a delicious meal. Show began about 9pm and Damien wore a black V tshirt, black jeans and shoes, He had a jacket with black leather sleeves and grey bodice. * Give Me Your Love * 22 Steps * I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen and talked about writing with Joe Melson * Only the Lonely * Beautiful * Message to My Girl * You Got It * 500 Reasons (version he wrote with Passenger not on Now & Then) * Carrickfergus * I Still Miss us (a request from Marcia, Anny and myself) I gave Damien a growling tiger set of underwear with the note To the amazing & talented Damien Leith. We growl for you xxx and it did growl. * Creep He did talk about how the leather pants he wore in Idol were a bit revealing with certain poses.
INTERVAL
* She's a Mystery to Me * Crying in the Chapel (from the Elvis show) * Hallelujah * The Blower's Daughter * What a Wonderful World * Night of My Life * Danny Boy * Sha La La * Crying * Songbird - a cappella * Bridge over Troubled Water ENCORE
* Stronger Than Superman * Leah a cappella * Unchained Melody Quite a lot of the cover songs were requests from one table...
Damien then took time to come out and do a meet and greet, he is very generous with his time and was very busy. All the tables downstairs were occupied and there were a lot upstairs too so a good number of patrons. Thank you to Damien for his precious time.

Great set list, of course you all enjoyed it, always fantastic to have a dose of Damien . I would have hoped he'd do more of his originals but he may vary the show from venue to venue, it will be interesting to see if he does as there are so many for him to choose from in his repertoire. Sha la la, do you mean Blue Angel?
Thanks for posting Dawn.

Sounds wonderful Dawn, a few different songs to the recent Melbourne show. He told the story about the photo shoot here too, funny and how typical of kids! It's good to see Damien plugging the Elvis Gospel show with a few teasers. Thanks for taking the time to post the set list. No wondering what your 'gift' was!

It must have been so special for Damien to play with Jagger on stage, and so great for you guys to watch! So lucky – I'm jealous! Last time I saw Jagger, he wasn't even one year old yet.

I made a spur-of-the-moment decision to go and see Damien play in Newtown on Wednesday night, and I thought I'd post about it in here even though the show wasn't part of his solo tour. It was part of a series called In The Round, and Damien and three other artists sat in a circle with their guitars playing songs with the audience sitting around them. The other artists were Tim Bowen, Missy Lancaster, and Kay Proudlove. I had a friend who used to be in a band with Tim Bowen, but I hadn't heard of the other two artists before. All of them were very good. They went around the circle taking turns to tell a story and then sing a (related) song. There were 17 songs in total: 4 each, and then they all sang I'll Fly Away together at the end. (I hadn't heard the song before, but it was very nice, so check it out on YouTube if you're interested: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BPoMIQHwpo.) Kay's stories and songs were very funny and had everyone laughing. Missy appeared to be somewhat famous (so it's probably a bit awkward for me to admit that I hadn't heard of her ). She apparently has had some #1 songs (not sure which charts she was referring to), and she said that she will be a judge on some new show that is replacing The X Factor on Channel 7 in October. She also said that she was 9 when Damien was on Idol, but she has since written some songs with him. She sang one of these songs at the show. It was called The First Time, and Damien played guitar and did some backing vocals during it. All of her songs were very good. Does anyone know whether she's ever been Damien's support act? I hope she supports him in the future (or maybe vice versa, who knows). I wrote down the list of songs Damien played: 1. Stronger Than Superman 2. First Day Of School 3. Beautiful 4. Come To Me First Day Of School is a song that Damien wrote for Kikki, and apparently he hadn't played it live before. It was very nice, and apparently Kikki cries whenever he plays it for her. Hopefully he records it one day! But in the meantime, I have a sneaky audio recording (which I won't post). I also recorded I'll Fly Away, which was the song they all played together at the end. I brought a friend with me who hadn't seen Damien before, but she was very keen to come, and she had a good night. I think I may have forgotten to mention to her beforehand that Damien knows me, so she was a bit surprised when he entered the room and took a look around and said hello to me and thanked me for coming. He had his back to us for most of the night, but he did say hi a few more times afterwards, and asked if we'd enjoyed the show, etc. I took one photo, but because I sat behind Damien (unintentionally, of course!), it didn't turn out very well. So maybe just check out the photo that he posted on Facebook/Instagram if you're interested. It was a very cool style of show, so hopefully D participates in more of these in the future, and more people get the chance to go and see him. The ticket was only $10, and well worth it. EDIT: Just realised that I haven't posted anything about seeing Damien's Elvis show last Friday, but it was awesome! I loved it, and it was nice to see a lot of familiar faces. I don't think I've seen such a big group of Damienites gather for at least 5 years. It was great seeing Damien play with such a big band, and his voice sounded amazing. I particularly loved the rock medley at the end. My PhD supervisor had previously been with me at one of Damien's shows last year when D first announced that he was bringing the Elvis show back, and my supervisor immediately asked that I make sure to let him know when tickets go on sale. So he came along too, and was glad not to have missed it, and said it was the best he'd heard Damien sing. I'd also never seen Damien look so comfortable without a guitar before. I liked all his Elvis dancing moves.

Thanks Spud, that was an awesome report on all counts. I'm glad you had a good time and have managed to get a few Damien 'converts'. If it's any consolation I haven't heard of Missy either! Will have a listen to the link when I get a chance. Yes, the Elvis show was amazing and it was great to see you. I had a lovely visit to Sydney, although a very brief one, wishing that I had decided to book the Thirroul one the following night. Yep, he just keeps getting better and better! Don't you just love him! JUST REMEMBER.....YOU NEED TO HAVE RAIN TO GET THE RAINBOW

The Brass Monkey Saturday, October 6, 2018 Took my SIL to this show, but didn't get to hang around as she has Parkinson's and wanted to hurry off. Would you believe Spud sat directly behind us with a gf. Was also lovely to catch up with Eils and some friends. The show was full and they all were in fine voice, so some great crowd singing as well. The support act was on at 8:30. Damien and Jess came on at 9:25. Jess was stunning and Damien was in black, including black tie and black check shoes. * Catch the Wind * The Times They are a Changin' * If * Old Man * Go My Way * Annie's Song * Crying in the Chapel * Walk Through the Storm (You'll never Walk Alone) * Everybody's Talking Interval (to buy the latest CD - elvis)* I Know I Have to Go (Father & Son) * Vincent Gave Damien his gift (red transparent elephant g-string) * You Got It * Crying * Wicked Game * Hallelujah * Halfway Heart * Baby I Love Way * Wild World * Sha la la * Brown Eyed Girl Encore * Danny Boy didn't write last song as we were getting ready to leave. Have to say Damien and Jess were on fire and had the joint jumping!!! Was a wonderful show. Said goodbye to Eils, will see her at Lizotte's.
