DAMIEN LEITH - ELVIS The Gospel Collection Tivoli Room (Rooty Hill) Saturday January 5, 2019 The gracious Braffy offered this traveller lodging for the trip, gratefully accepted, especially with all the heavy rain and it was almost an hour's travel to Rooty Hills. You'll be pleased to know that Damien's red jacket has been found and worn at the show tonight. I have to thank Nick for grabbing a couple of set list sheets too as wasn't sure about all the song names. Show started at just after 8:30pm. On stage were Eric, Chris, Robbie (drums), Cesar, Adrien & Michael (brass), Diana, Nick & Sky (choral) and Damien in black with his red jacket (although he told us Elvis didn't wear pants that tight ) * How Great Thou Art * Bosom of Abraham * Crying in the Chapel * Swing Low Sweet Chariot * You'll Never Walk Alone * Where Could I Go But To The Lord * Clean Up Your Own Back Yard * Peace In The Valley * Can't help Falling in Love gave Damien a bunch of long stemmed mauve roses (I think he missed his underwear gift ) and * Bridge Over Troubled Water INTERVAL to buy the CDs * solo (by request) Hallelujah * joined by Diana Stand By Me then all came back * So High * Milky White Way * If The Lord Wasn't Walking With Me * Amazing Grace (with Sky) * I Believe * Put Your Hand In The Hand ENCORE * Elvis Medley ( Don't Be Cruel, Hound Dog, JailHouse Rock, Suspicious Lies) * An American Trilogy This was a great show with an enthusiastic audience, some of whom stood with us at the end for a standing ovation. All artists were in fine voice and top form on their instruments. Was great to see CD merchandise selling too. Eils and Mele were on the merchandise table and we were able to catch up with them. Damien also came out for autographs and photos. Was lovely to see Chris's parents there too. Thank you for being so generous with your time Damien. Looking forward to your shows at Lizottes and Belmont 16 footer's.

STRING QUARTET TOUR - Capitol Theatre Bendigo Vic, 12.4.19 This was a fantastic evening with Damien in fine voice as usual (seems to get better and better) - lots of strength in his upper register below falsetto. The strings and guitar (|Eric Aranda) with Damien strummung along too, were a great combination, and added a new dimension to so many of the songs. Jess Graham, Damien's violinist for some time and very respected and competent musician, did all the string arrangements and a fantastic job it was. The evening could have been a disaster as two of the String Quartet called in sick. Jess was able to phone around and find two replacements in the Bendigo area and they were marvelous. Their first meet up with the other band members was around 5.30 pm, two hours before the show, and it was obvious to see how talented they are to be able to fill in at such short notice and play some songs they had never heard before. Kudos to them all, Jess named the Quartet. 'Highly Strung'... she has a great sense of humour. Damien came out and impressed with a rare live version of
Golden Line ( wow those high notes gave me goosebumps) Blowers Daughter.... more goosebumps for me anyway, superb Only the Lonely, talked about his experiences with Barbara Orbison Night of my Life Annie's Song All I want is You If 22 Steps Crying Toss the Feathers
INTERVAL
Not Just for the Weekend Guitar Man Waiting on an Angel, (swoon) Fight for your Love (new song coming on the new album being released in September.) Great, he's an amazing lyricist Rocky Road to Dublin - sang one of the verses twice so missed hearing one. Danny Boy First Day of School - another new song for the new album, just beautiful, inspired by daughter Kikki Bridge over Troubled Water - wow again, that last high note!!! Encore: Hallelujah.
It was not a full house unfortunately, I was so disappointed but that's happened before in Bendigo, I doubt whether Damien would want to go back there again. Still those in attendance loved every minute, lots of clapping, cheering and singing along, with a standing ovation at the end. CD's were on sale and I think he did pretty well with them.JUST REMEMBER.....YOU NEED TO HAVE RAIN TO GET THE RAINBOW

Thank you so much Glawz, isn't it wonderful to get some of Damien' own songs and lyrics (even from my favourite album) When I saw the new couple in the group at their meal, i wondered how it had happened. That's great they were able to get such talented fill ins too. Thanks for the review Was there a meet and greet??

Yes, as always Dawn, Damien is so generous with his time. Jess did not come out but suppose she had to support her 'string' friends and not leave them alone. We've noticed at the last couple of shows that Eric has either not come out, or has stayed for the CD sales and then nicked off! We were a bit disappointed that he only did the older songs, and not much from his newer albums.

Had the great pleasure of attending Damien's String Quartet tour on two consecutive nights, firstly at Dandenong, followed by Geelong. Damien was in awesome voice, gosh just when you think he's reached his peak he surprises you with the depth of his voice in the upper register, those notes are sublime and give me goosebumps.
Dandenong First: Drum Theatre, Friday 25th April, 2019.
Disappointing attendace, the theatre was only half full but those who were there were enthusiastic, he sold out of his albums which is a good sign. He's always entertaining and his patter is more confident these days always gives 100% no matter how many are there. I doubt if there was much publicity about this show, just a small sign in the window which people wouldn't see unless they went right up to or into the venue. Set List: (similar to the previous one at Bendigo) but that's expected as the musical arrangements for the strings have all been written by Jess Graham, superb. Golden Line Blower's daughter Only the Lonely Night of my life Annies song All I want is you If 22 Steps Crying Toss the Feathers with Willy from Claymore. INTERVAl: Not just for the weekend Guitar Man Willie returned to stage and they did Red is the Rose/Loch Loman duel. We missed out on Waiting for an Angel because of this: Fight for your Love (from the new album coming September,) great song Rocky Road to Dublin Danny Boy First day of school (another one from the new album, love it) Bridge over Troubled Water Encore : Hallelujah
Geelong Entertainmenet Centre, Sat 27 |April, 2019
Similar set list... we got another song from the new album: Only Human ( beautiful) Fight for your love also new and missed out on 22 Steps Waiting on an Angel (again)
This was well attended, almost full house. Damien's parents were at both shows, on holiday from Ireland and Damien mentioned they were there although he had no idea where they were sitting, LOL Spoke to them afterwards and as they had not seen Damien perform in about three years, were very proud of what he has achieved vocally and presentation wise, very professional.

Sounds like a terrific show, a shame about the Dandenong show. So disappointing as they're always so good and the more people the better. who was in the string quartet (the same as before at Geelong?) It's also a shame for D's parents. Great news that the CDs are selling so well. It's terrific that we're starting to hear some of D's new music. Am looking forward to his show in May. Thanks for the report Glawz

Yes Dawn, the string quartet was the same as Bendigo. I am wondering what happened to the two members who cancelled at the last minute there, the newbies have the job at least in Victoria. They call themselves 'The Highly Strung Quartet' LOL

All singers were in strong and excellent voice and Damien was exceptional. There was a big crowd and they mostly enjoyed singing along (apart from one difficult and high section) A great time was had by all with a large standing ovation at the end. Eric and Jess came out with Damien and it was lovely to catch up with all of them. Thanks again for your extra time Was lovely to have Braffy staying over

DAMIEN WITH STRING QUARTET.... TOWN HALL THEATRE, TRARALGON VIC 29.6.19
The show started late as Damien had been caught in the bad weather, the rain was absolutely shocking, he said later he could hardly see where he was going. We were caught in similar for part of the way down to Traralgon from Melbourne, but it stopped about 2/3 way down. We did however get what Damien was caught in when we went out for dinner and had to get to the venue so know at first hand how bad it was! Eric and Jess had arrived earlier as they came from Sydney, Damien from Newcastle. The other three of the quartet drove as they are Vic based.
Set list: Golden Line Blower's daughter Only the Lonely Night of my life Annies song All I want is you If 22 Steps Crying
INTERVAL: Not just for the weekend Guitar Man Fight for your Love (from the new album coming September,) great song Rocky Road to Dublin Danny Boy First day of school (another one from the new album, love it) Bridge over Troubled Water Encore : Hallelujah
It seemed to go really fast, but time always flies when your're enjoying yourself.
Nice theatre, it wasn't completely full up the back. However, the stage is a long way from the first row of seats, so they had put six more rows of chairs between that and the stage, so figure they took up the slack of the unfilled seats up the back.

Royal Theatre Hobart, 2nd August, 2019Beautiful venue, it is stalls and two dress circles and all full Very appreciative audience and standing ovation at the conclusion. Seems that the 'Strings' shows are pretty much all the same set list, most likely because the string arrangements have been written especially for these songs and not much deviation possible. Check with the above set list for the Bendigo show, this one was identical. I don't think I've ever seen so many lining up for meet an greet after the show as this one. Sue and I waited patiently until they had mostly all gone and were able to have a chat with Damien, he was very happy with the crowd and the venue - will maybe use it again in future. FYI Damien is currently in France for the Celtic festival, not sure how long he's away. Claymore with Willie Hutton are there as well.JUST REMEMBER.....YOU NEED TO HAVE RAIN TO GET THE RAINBOW

Don't understand why I missed the Traralgon write up, apologies Glawz, there are a lot of songs I like in that set list. Yes imagine it would be difficult to change it around too much. What a shame the weather was so bad for the Hobart Show. It's great that show was pretty full thanks for writing the reports Glawz

Saturday, September 7, 2019 The Brass Monkey, Cronulla Two of Us - The Songs of Lennon and McCartney featuring Damien Leith & Darren Coggan What a great Show and a sell out too. Who doesn't love the songs of Lennon and McCartney sung in wonderful fashion by the two artists Leith and Coggan!! Some songs were sung by both together and also as separate performers. Damien was looking cool in his black gear. I will put B for both, DL for Damien and DC for Darren. * B Two of Us * B We Can Work It Out * B Nowhere Man * DC Blackbird * DC Yesterday * DC Beautiful Boy * DC Here Today * DC In My Life * DC Hey You've Got to Hide Your Love Away * B Yellow Submarine * B When I Get Older INTERVAL * B Help From My Friends Damien then played the keyboard * B A Day in the Life * DL Jealous Guy * DL Rocky Raccoon (for DL's FIL) * DL Once There Was a Way * DL Let It Be * DL Imagine * DL The Long and Winding Road Damien has certainly been working on his keyboard skills too * B Norwegian Wood * B I'm a Loser * B Help * B Hey Jude DL back on keyboard ENCORE * B I Saw Her Standing There * B All You need is Love. They both had different but wonderful voices and suited the songs they were singing. The audience was rocking and having a great time and were pretty good with their encouraged singing. It was lovely to see Spud and she came across Barb and myself. She didn't have dinner tickets as the place was packed. I then ran into our gorgeous Eils so that was wonderful. Didn't get a chance to catch up with Damien as Barb needed to get home in a hurry to Kirrawee. I really enjoyed the songs and the show, if they decide to extend (this was their debut show) do try to get to it.
