I entered the Audience's Song Choice competition....(who wouldn't want to grab an opportunity to be in the presence of a class act!) ...This is how I came to my decision: I thought the other three songs had been sung by artists that have extremely distinct voices or personas or both. (Iactually think its sacreligious for anyone to sing Michael Hutchence's 'Never Tear Us Apart'...noone can do it like him!) There lies the problem with this competition...it's only human but we can't help but compare. Damien doesn't need that going against him (even though he would do a fabulous job of them anyhooo) I think out of all of the choices Damien could actually take Hallelujah and make it his own coz its not as 'engrained' (for whatever reason) as the other 3 songs are. Finally...without doubt...the lad has an ethereal voice...angelic....heavenly....how appropriate that he sings Hallelujah! What do you think?? PS: Thank You to all the very sweet replies to my thread about Damien's humility. I've been slack and not checking. ( Big slap on the wrist for Grizzlyn!)Big MWAAAAs to all of you! XXX

Reason for song choice: Hallelujah will show the range of damiens falsetto. I think that this version would suit his voice more than leonard cohens! Reason for wanting to meet him: Reading music and then singing is easy. Sing to the notes of your soul is extremely difficult! Damien does this really well. I'd love to meet him. Thats what I wrote. My mum told me that quote. It sounds a bit corny. emmylu

I chose 'Crying' for Damien as I reckon it would really suit him - he would definitely put enough emotion into it. I saw K.D. Lang do a version of the Roy Orbison song once and she was magic (I am not even a big fan of hers). I think that Damien would do even better than K.D. Lang.
BTW, I noticed today (when I surfing the net at work) that people are talking about Damien on the Anthony Callea Forum - they're all saying very nice things about him.
On another note, I told you guys about having my car smashed up the other day where the person left a false number on my windscreen. This accident happened at university (I am studying to be a primary school teacher). Anyway, I put a few notices up around the university pleading for witnesses. Anyway, the person responsible cracked and phoned me today. She said she felt so guilty and hadn't slept in two nights! I felt sorry for her that she tortured herself so much. Anyway, I guess the 2 Karma's I have been given to me on this forum has worked!
Talk to you all soon!

Lisaw My second choice would have been 'Crying' :'(too....look, I think Damien would do a fabulous job of all of them...can't wait to buy a CD of his.
That was really encouraging to hear that people still do have consciences...you hear so much damage and destruction reported in the media by people who are de-sensitized to other people's suffering and pain...it's really great to hear consciences are still being pricked out there and some people are brave enough to act upon it. Thanks for sharing lisaw...BTW I'm a Primary School teacher myself ...you Go Girl!!! It's a rewarding career in so many different ways...but you probably realise that anyway...Good luck with it...X

I choose "Hallelujah" because hearing the 10 seconds or so that they aired of D singing it during the Sydney rounds kind of hooked me onto the show - so I am dying to see a full version!
I dont think I mentioned this in my competition application though. I think in my application I sounded like a deranged stalker ;D
Its fascinating to read everyones reasons! (and great news about the car lisaw!)

Bah, I didn't enter the comp because you had to send in your mobile number and I didn't fancy doing that But if I had entered it would have been "Crying". Yes, I also really love that KD Lang duet with Roy Orbison and I think Damien could take an already perfect song to yet another peak. Really really want to hear him sing this song - it soars into pure operatic heights and is an incredibly emotional song. It's wistful, sad, yet also empowering, it claims the act of crying for lost love. Love it love it.

Thanks Grizzlyn - studying education and teaching is much harder than I thought it was going to be - I love it though. I think many people out there don't realise that it is hard work. I haven't been able to spread the news on the Anthony Callea site yet but will do so tonight. I noticed that people are chatting about him on the Big Brother forum as well (his fans). I think the fact that people have raved over Damien on other forums such as 'the official Anthony Callea Forum' speaks volumes of Damien's talent and star potential. Have you all checked out Damien in Wikipedia? Only famous people/things get mentioned in Wikipedia. Here is the link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damien_LeithI will visit again tonight. I am at work at the moment and had better get off the internet before I am kicked off! Oh Happy Friday. Lisa

Karma can be good or bad. The more Karma you have the better, well it doesn't really matter how many you have it's just for fun. But Exalt gives you one point and Smite takes away one

right.... I'm not so sure I understand.... why do we gain or lose them? I'm a bit slow after enduring 6 hour car trip. I was devastated coz my iPod died and I couldn't listen to Damien. Emmylu xxx

Oh ok, sorry I didn't explain properly!
If someone says something or does something that you like, you can give them a karma point. Or if you don't like what they said then you can take one away

(and great news about the car lisaw!)what!!! you a deranged stalker......Never!!.... I love Halleluyah....it is so soleful...and like you said seeing the very small piece of him singing to the other idols and with tears in their eyes.....I thought straight away 'a prayer moment'....'touchdown'.... and with the OC coming back on soon...the ads on tv are playing that song alot...so alot more people (and young ones) are going to know this song and love it.....hopefully he will be a shoein for top 3 easy..... and I can't remember what I said in the competition...probably something cheesy...hehe.
