BELINDA Emmett's younger brother Shane will pay tribute to his late sister this weekend doing something close to both their hearts -- singing.
Shane, a singer, actor and film-maker, will perform on Saturday at Carols in the Domain -- the event Belinda sang at seven times between 1995 and 2002.
"Belinda and I grew up as singing partners, in the car, on holidays, around our home, from The Rainbow Connection to Oklahoma," Shane said.
"I was always Danny, Belinda was always Sandy (from Grease). Sometimes she made me be Rizzo. She'll always be Sandy to me."
Shane said the popular TV star and beloved wife of Rove McManus was a soul mate as well as a sister.
"The public figure of Belinda was the private figure," he said.
"Her love, compassion and incredible strength is something that will never leave me.
"We were very close. Sometimes there are things that can only be expressed with music, when words escape us.
"Music was Belinda's life and singing made her come alive.
"I'm sure she will be looking down on Saturday night, smiling."
Carols in the Domain screens live from Sydney from 8.40pm on Channel 7.
Other guests include Damien Leith performing Hallelujah, Guy Sebastian, Human Nature, Jade MacRae and the Wiggles.
Zemanek turns off his mic
SHOCK jock Stan Zemanek has decided not to continue his Sydney radio shift after seven years to spend more time with his family as he fights brain cancer.
"I decided that I have had enough of night-time radio and I am going to concentrate on getting my health back in order and fight this dreadful disease," the 2UE announcer said.
"My health comes first and so does my family, and I want to give them every opportunity to see me around for the next 20 years."
Zemanek has battled the malignant brain tumour for seven months, and admits he has mellowed a bit.
"I have become more reasoned but I am still the bad boy of television and radio, and still won't take a backward step if I believe I am right and people want to argue with me," he said.
One reason for stepping down was so that he could be with wife Marcella for 30 years more.
"I really think I need to give her a little bit more time at home, helping her," Zemanek said.
"If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be here today. She has been a rock to my whole being, and so have my two daughters."
He must be doing this than take off to Ireland the next day ;D
