Yeah, they were quick off the mark on adding that one....My husband, poor ignorant soul who doesn't know much about things Australian, said "Who's Billy Thorpe..?"
....he's only been on the radio ALL DAY!!!!!!

Squeeee he can sing "As Gaeilge" (swooons). I've never heard Molly Mallone in Irish *sigh* the last thing I learnt in Irish was how to say: one hand, two hands, and how to bless myself. Oh and don't even get me started on knowing the anthems....*faints* Slan Donna x

Wonderful, witty appearance!! I love his sense of humour! Voice was beautiful even singing from The Fellowship of the Rings! And Molly Malone in Irish!! He's done us proud! I'll be watching this over and over again. Such a sweetheart.

Thank you gj for the links! Ah memories - I remember how shy he looked singing the Aus anthem - like a shy school boy in front of the class awwww - and those shining eyes looking around.... And I could listen to Molly Malone over and over - And I squeezed him in that same jacket on Tuesday night! ;D He said he had been so nervous during that taping. He must be the champion at feeling nervous yet looking so cool! And trilly did say to his face she regretted not seeing "the calves of power on the bike" EDIT: oh, and the bit where he said the Single went number 8 in Ireland the first person you hear go "whoah" - that was me! Love you Damien.

Damien is very impressive on TV. He has such a warm, beautiful personality that shines through. I was laughing a lot last night, Damien is a natural comedian. And, his song at the end of the show was gorgeous!

Was it my imagination or did they put particular emphasis on Damien on that show? I mean, I've watched lots of other shows and Adam Hills asks the artists questions and stuff, but he seemed to focus on Damien a lot more than most others who have been on. Not that I'm complaining, of course... I also really loved the part right at the beginning of the show - I can't remember what he said when he mentioned Damien, but his expression was hilarious! And the squealing from the audience wasn't bad either...

He introduced him as current winner of Idol but then said "you probably know him better for his work with the Metallosupramolecular Research Group in the Mc'Chemistry Department of Trinity College in Dublin, please welcome the Irish Chemist, Damien Leith...

He introduced him as current winner of Idol but then said "you probably know him better for his work with the Metallosupramolecular Research Group in the Mc'Chemistry Department of Trinity College in Dublin, please welcome the Irish Chemist, Damien Leith... I was wondering if the "McChemistry" bit was just a gaff on Adam's part.
