Damien Leith (along with Human Nature) will be performing at next Monday 5 February 2007 Allan Border Medal Ceremony and black tie function, at the Crown Casino, in Melbourne.
The event will be televised on Channel 9 from 9.30-11.30pm.
*NB - I don't know yet whether the performances will be televised.
(For those from Ireland, Allan Border was Australia's Mens' Cricket Team captain for ... zonks; also Australian of the Year and a great lefthander batsman with a nifty spinning delivery action)

Nice! I'm fairly sure the performances will be televised... I mean, they have to realise that the amount of viewers will jump significantly if they are.

Cool! Even if it is a show about cricket (sorry guys - love to play sport but not very good at watching it!)...I'm sure they'll televise the whole lot....

If Channel 9 doesn't televise Damo's performance, they'll be getting a lot of angry emails from me. I wonder what song Damien will be singing for those Aussie cricket stars? Maybe "C'mon Aussie C'mon"?

This is a total dilemma for me.
9.30pm Monday cuts across the final episodes of the West Wing (*sigh*) on ABC, which I watch so religiously, that I am now re-watching on the ABC the episodes I have already watched on specially downloaded clips *cough* several times over.
And yet, I love Aussie cricket. Have been to all the matches this year, etc.
And (obviously) I'm not going to say "no thank you" to watching D sing. AAARRRGHHHH.

Dededom: The West Wing is moving to Saturday night on the ABC(9.30 PM) from February 10. Like you, I'm a big fan, mostly because I'm extremely interested in American politics. I'll tape the Alan Border Medal thing tomorrow night.

Anyone watching this? I can't be bothered watching the whole thing if he isn't going to be on. I'm already falling asleep.

Damien was just televised on Australia’s biggest network, Channel 9. I can almost guarantee you most of the blokes there and watching (but not necessarily their wives) will not have heard much of Damien! So great exposure.
He was smiling and enjoying himself.
(But, sorry to say it his voice sounds a tad tired and strained IMHO)
The announcers did a big plug for his concerts and CD/DVD at the end which was helpful.
Did anyone notice how when he started singing people were talking (its that kind of rowdy event) but by midway thru they were silent. It is something that always intrigues me when he sings – how everyone stops to listen.

I thought Damien's voice sounded pretty good. Definitely a bit tired but overall it sounded beautiful. He looked like he was having a great time up there and was throwing some real power behind some of those notes... I have a feeling that maybe he's been heavily rehearsing some of his Idol showstoppers - Crying and Nessun Dorma in particular. I think maybe he would have been more comfortable if it were just him and his guitar without the NOML studio backing track, but he did a fantastic job and I think it's one of my favourite live performances of the song. (Yes, yes, they're all my favourites. ) I was trying to observe the audience reaction too, but I kind of got sucked into the performance and forgot. The applause at the end seemed really big and genuine though. That was definitely worth the wait!

I've had a great TV viewing evening: 2 fantastic episodes of THE WEST WING, the 2nd half of BROTHERS & SISTERS, and then I switiched on Channel 9, just in time to watch Damien in action. He was great as ever! The one thing that I notice is how far Damien has come since Australian Idol: he is now so relaxed and confident performing, either on TV or on stage. You could tell how much fun he was having tonight ;D. Not a terribly appreciate audience, at least in my opinion(but what do you expect from a bunch of cricket players? ), BUT terrific promotion for TWJ and the upcoming gigs. Well done, Damo!

I loved it! Very disappointed he didn't get to do more than one song but he could do the whole night and I would still want more! He smiled the most I've seen him do in a performance and it was lovely to watch. Yes, great promotion for TWJ and upcoming gigs! Loving you big heaps Damien. Powers that be, more tv appearances please.
