Damien will make an appearance at tomorrow' campaign launch for the NSW Labor Party at Hurstville for the upcoming State election on 24 March. Damien is providing the pre-launch entertainment along with students from the local Oatley Public School.
Edit 19/2/07 - apparently, it was not intended as an overt political statement on Damien's behalf, only another appearance.

WTF!!? Surely not? Bit partisan isn't it? (Still...I'd be more worried if it was the other lot... )

Struck me as unusual too. Perhaps the ALP is collecting musical politicians .. you know, first Peter Garrett, next Damien Leith, tomorrow ..... ??

He is downgrading himself isn't he? How so? Personally, I dont mind if it is a bit partisan....I like a person with an opinion whos not afraid to state it

A longtime Labor voter doesn't have a problem with this! ;D My appreciation for Damien just increased even more.

I'm happy enough because I vote Labor, but I am a little surprised. Maybe he's a mate?
*goes off to investigate*

A thought: the various TV news programs tomorrow night in Sydney might show bits of Damien singing at the ALP Campaign launch? I'll check them out for you all.

Hmmmm. Not sure about this at all, regardless of what I vote. I hope it's just a big paying job and that he's not pulling a Bono just yet with regards to his political beliefs.

As a Labor Party admirer who cannot vote due to being a non-citizen, I admire Damien even more now . Honestly, I don't think there is nothing wrong about it. I wouldn't even give a thought had it been for Liberal Party ^^;;

Hmm... can see how this could make some people a little antsy, but good luck to him I guess if it's true. I don't think any non-Christians were offended by Damien performing at Christmas functions (well, I certainly wasn't) so hopefully a sensible attitude will prevail in this situation too.
Whatever his reasons may be, I think it's great that he's brave enough to stand up and do it. He must realise what some will think and say as well, but he's definitely entitled to his political opinion. It's a surprise to me too, but I guess it's no surprise to see Damien in general doing something that's going to challenge our thinking. I like that quality in a person. ^_^
