This is for the NSW elections and NSW has gone down the gurgler over the last several years.

My personal policy has always been never to discuss politics, sex or religion in mixed company and I'll abide by that. All I can say in this case is "Not happy Jan!"

This has gotten me thinking about all the things D could do that could make me disappointed in him.... I would be disappointed in him if he were a hard drug addict, a criminal or a cheater. Thinking very hard about it tonight, I couldnt be disappointed in him for supporting a different political party to the one I vote for, politics in general or any cause he wishes to represent for that matter. In fact, regardless of what party he supports, I'm quite chuffed and proud that he isnt afraid to let people know what he believes in, and has the guts to actually take a position. Yes, I'm here for the music and ultimately his personal beliefs dont influence that...but apathy sucks. Good on you D

I'm not sure if playing at a political thing means you support that party? It could, but i'm not sure it does. Maybe Damien just sees it as any other gig? Anyway, I don't mind either way But I won't make any assumptions as it could be quite likely that Damien is just seeing this as a gig like any other without any particular other agenda.

I agree with you Shimmery. Just because Damien is singing at an ALP election launch does not mean that he is a Labor supporter. It could simply be another gig for him, for which he will be paid.

For goodness sake, does it really matter? Why is Damien being condemned? Anything that gets him extra exposure and media coverage has to be a good thing.

Ah politics....nothing like it for a bit of debate and division A gentle reminder that this is a public forum, where you can state your opinion. While I dont share the opinions of many who have posted ( ), I'm glad that we feel comforable enough to post them. Strangely shim, I'd be less happy if I knew this was just a paid job! I'd like to think, even if the job was a paid one, that D would think it significant about who it was for. Alas, D is not my puppet and doesnt do everything I wish him to - dammit! But you are right in that doing the gig does not necessarily link him to the party, or give us an indication of his politics. Either way, its still wub

What song will Damo perform at the event? BTW: I love your banner, Winterlong. How about instead "Adorkable is the new beautiful"?

UPDATE
The campaign launch, including Damien's performances of Hallelujah and NOML, were broadcast live on Sky News on Foxtel. If you tune in during the day you will probably catch snippets of it. He was backed (so to speak) by the girls from the Oatley Public School.
His voice, by the way, sounds in GREAT shape.

Aww Belle. He didn't make a speech. He has moved into that electorate, and this will be his first election when he gets to vote as an Aussie. Why isn't he entitled to voice his opinion, even indirectly?
