Also...and I just pretty much posted this on the official boards too...*lazy!*.... I'm loving reading all the debate, here but particularly on other less..er...'biased' forums, concerning Nessun dorma...and loving the fact that for the second week running Damien has the song choice everyone is buzzing about - whether it be in a good or bad way!! For those of us who think it will be magic, I dont think we will be dissapointed, and for those who think it will not live up to standard , well, they have left themselves alot of room to be pleasantly suprised! ;D Sure, theres going to be a lot of people out there who will criticise him for not being a properly operatically trained tenor, or for possibly reinterpreting (?) a very classical and traditional song in a way that suits his voice. Hell, some people really hated his Wicked Game because it strayed so far from the Chris Isaak version, I can only imagine this could bring more scorn! But the beauty of this week is that this is not his choice....he has been set an incredibly challenging task of making this work for him. And even if people think he is no match for Bocelli or whoever, he certainly cant be criticised for it! I think he also may be the only contestant set something reasonably far outside their comfort zone too.....which perhaps should be taken as a great complement that he is the one left who can handle it! Cant wait ;D

I agree totally Winter, this week was not their choice and it does show that The Judges must have an awful lot of confidence in our Damien to give him an Opera song to do.. Every week I sit with anxious nerves, wondering how he will do, and just praying that he will nail it....and he hasn't disappointed me yet....I even get on the computer and read the Updates from WA and NSW just to see what everyone is saying... Well this week, I will need a few glasses of bourbon & coke I feel just to get me through......I am going to be a basketcase for sure. Can't wait to read *another touchdown for Damien*..as I'm sure he will deserve one....or two maybe...hehe.....can we be that lucky......

As we know Damien was a member of a Metal band before coming to Australia and what is interesting is that in 2002 Nessun Dorma was featured on the Heavy Metal band Manowar's album Warriors of the World, sung by Eric Adams as a tribute to Italian Manowar fans. It seems that many different artists have put their own slant on this aria and not all of them are trained opera singers. I think Damien will mesmerize us all once again with Nessun Dorma

Um, this has me confused now. I went to the Channel Ten website, and this is what is in their program guide: "Final 3 - 80's"
Travel back in time this week to the 80s when the FINAL 3 Idols perform their favourite songs from this era. Dig out your roller skates, leg warmers and make an appointment at the salon for a perm... because this week is going to be RAD!"

They did the "Year You Were Born" thing, which planted most of them in or around the 80s, so they might as well have. Looks like they did some last minute switching of theme nights and forgot to notify someone's department.

Maybe its still judges choice but they are picking songs from the 80's??? I dunno.....they have worked up so much about judges choice night you think they wouldnt change it, just like that....maybe it caused problems between the judges and the final 3 lol thats me - always looking for the controversy! xXx

Damo should do absolutely brilliant at both songs, but I'm definitely looking forward to Unchained Melody Wouldn't it be just fantastic if he got another 2 touchdowns.
Now all we have to do is vote our butts off, or at least till our fingers are sore so that we can see him to the Opera House

I'm not very familiar with the Opera type song either, but after what he did with Hallelujah it is certainly possible, plus this is Damo we're talking about ... he can do anything I reckon, except for maybe disco Can't wait to hear Unchained Melody though ;D

Unchained Melody is the one I'm just waiting to hear... he will be spectacular! I got a bit mad today with my friends thinking that Damien was given one heck of a challenge with Nessun Dorma compared to the other idols, but then again, when you do a challenge really well, you also look brilliant doing it and outshine everyone.
