Sunrise would be a good gig for Damien, with their outdoor stage setup in the middle of Martin Place, Sydney. I'm sure he'll be on there eventually(because they always have Guy or Shannon on). Another thought: Channel 10 always does that live concert on Australia Day. Does Damien officially become an Australian Citizen o that day next year? Why not combine the two? Oh man, that'd be emotional - a very famous new Aussie citizen sings to the nation.  |

Yeah, I love that idea, would be good publicity for Damien too - finally shutting up the people whining because he's not "Australian" enough. And what a way to shut them up too. I wonder how they'll try to discredit him once that old line is gone? No, actually, I don't care.  |

My thought on this is this: If Australia didn't want an Irishman for Idol, they wounldn't have voted. Damien is the Australian Idol because the Australian public love him and recognise great talent when the hear it.

I'm sure they'll still find something to pick on (tall poppy syndrome) If he wasn't irish they would have found something else. I hope he gets one of his own singles out soon. I've heard so many people saying they don't like NOML and now he's going to have to perform and promote it everywhere. I'm starting to really like it but the whining sore loses won't drop it anytime soon.  |

I'm over caring what anti-Damien/anti-Idol people think too. So many people have come on here and said they liked/now like NOML, or at least like/appreciate what Damien has done with it. I think there are a lot more like that who aren't saying anything. Damien was not considered likely to win and yet, without overt judge favouritism, he got the votes. I think Damien has a lot of fans who just quietly love their music, and he's going to do great. And anyone who sees him perform NOML live will be blown away by his voice if not the song, I think. *nodnod*

Yeah to them (but if I remember there was even some fans bagging the song at the start) Even though it's great live I like the recorded verson better. I can't wait for his originals though and the whole album  |

Yeah, I'm probably guilty of being one of the biggest of the baggers . I still detest the lyrics, and I think it sounds overproduced to be honest, but that's just my taste - I'm not fond of commercial music. Plus I am a negative person I do still enjoy it when it comes on the radio, and I think a lot people are trying hard to like it. From almost everyone I've spoken to (you know, in real life) no matter which Idol they liked etc they have invariably said they thought Damien had got the most out of that song that could possibly be gotten out of it - so I doubt it will lose him any fans. And yes I will definitely buy it - I think the fact that the B-side is an original is generating real interest. |

I was also one of the most vehement (if inconsistent) baggers of the song, and I've really grown to like it because of what Damien has done with it. I think the lyrics do suit Damien decently well - it could have been something like Listen With Your Heart - and while the recorded version was nothing like I expected, I think everyone appreciates this was a bit of a rush job. And it does still sound great, and since it'll be the last rush job we see from Damien I don't think the single will hurt him either. |
