Hi all, I will leave some of the stories for others to tell, but basically tonight was FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! etc etc etc We got there early (my two friends and Jim) and had a nice leisurely dinner there before the show. I think Kedron Wavell is probably one of the nicer clubs I've been into, actually...a bit nicer than the average RSL anyway. I can't remember half the songs (happy daze and all that) but I am sure that Roxy or one of the others will have the setlist to share with you all. It was great to see that Roxy and Sister arrived safely (I am sure they will tell you their saga, you poor ladies!), and also lovely to meet Lynlest and see Andy again. I loved what Damien wore tonight....Dawn, you would have been in seventh heaven....a leather vest over a cotton check shirt (a la the Who Weekly shot we love for "Most beautiful"...what do you call that look, Shims???), the tight dark jeans....I think the shoes were the pointy ones, ladies? I hate to say it, but my eyes aren't so great on details now from a distance. ..so correct me if I've got that wrong, please...or at least add more detail... I DO remember that he sang "Alone" (are you in 7th heaven, Roxy? ), Unchained Melody , Cold Cold Heart ( one of my favs), and Bigger Plan .... think these were definitely the highlights for me, anyway! A couple of the funnier parts... He was telling us about how a lot of the songs he writes are actually as gifts for people....and how he has a reputation for being too cheap to bring a present to parties.."ahh....not another song again.!!..." ( psssstt......Damien, can you pllleaaasseee come to MY birthday party....January 29th next year, I will give you LOTS of notice!!...and won't mind ONE LITTLE BIT if you don't BUY me a present... ) He talked about how he had a few glasses of red when he turned up for the Idol Auditions, and luckily had to come back the next day....because otherwise they would have given him an even harder time about his lovely teeth being so black from the wine.... Poor Eric had hurt his eye doing some work with only sunglasses instead of safety glasses (I think we need a spanking smiley for him!!! ) and he had surgery on it only this morning and was winking out of one eye a bit....it didn't affect his playing at all, though...what a trooper, hey!. Lots of pirate jokes, though, which was also in keeping with the theme of Jarvis's 3rd birthday party...( Can you imagine how much fun that would have been??? and good practice too for the "Talk like a Pirate" Day on soon....lol). One of the friends who went with me raved about Eric's playing as well...it was just brilliant tonight...thank you Eric!! Indie, of course, is always brilliant...lol. I am sorry, I am so braindead I can't think too much more right now, I am sure others will fill in all the gaps for you.... except that I was in a great spot for videos and will be putting some up over the next day or so....uploading now as I write. ;D Damien, thank you for another wonderful, spell-binding night. ..and ladies, it was lovely to see you again. I didn't get a chance to say goodnight before we left, but I hope you had as wonderful a night as we did! My two friends really enjoyed the show as well, they both said they would definitely go yet again....although one (he who pays out on me constantly) said that it was only on the condition that the next concert was Damien's originals (he enjoyed them the most) AND I hadn't played them to death for him first. Cheeky bugger. ...lol. PS. Damien, you DEFINITELY don't want me to sing louder! I sound like a crow when I try to sing. If I had to sing for my supper, I'd be a size 8. PPS. Uploaded before I finally head to bed: Waiting on an Angel:s130.photobucket.com/albums/p278/christyl_oz/Damien08/?action=view¤t=WaitingOnAnAngel.flvAlone:s130.photobucket.com/albums/p278/christyl_oz/Damien08/?action=view¤t=Alone.flvUnchained Melodys130.photobucket.com/albums/p278/christyl_oz/Damien08/?action=view¤t=UnchainedMelody.flvCold Cold Heart (and Fishermans Blues)www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydcAvGDS4DUYes, heading off tonight again...whhhhhoooooohhhooooooooooo... Enjoy....I did, for sure...

Well the two guys, christyl and I went to See Damien. And the above post says it all really. But I'll add my 2ยข worth. I'll just quote what I said in the hut. It kind of fits here.
I saw Damien sing live at Kedron Wavell Last night. He didn't sing my favourite songs of his. I have 4 ones I really like. And he sang none of them. But you know what it didn't matter all that much. The people I went with were a blast. And actually quite sane (Not too Damiern crazy) so it was really nice. And I have to agree him live is so much better than the album.
I really like his loud singing voice. Not the falsetto. But the one when he sings out the notes loud and really projects his voice. Not a rocking show. But it's not meant to be. I quite enjoyed it. Well worth the money I paid for it.
And just to let you know these are my favourite of the songs Damien has sung.
If Tomorrow Never Comes Never Meant To Fail Not Just For The Weekend Father And Son
But as I said that didn't matter. First time I picked a song for a concert and it wasn't played. But it was good. Really good. And he didn't overuse the falsetto for a change. I'm surprised.
A mover and shaker Damien is not. But a good voice. Yes. I'd argue the best voice overall Idol has produced. The show could have something else added to it I think.
Anyways we all know what to expect before we go to a show. And he delivered. Not his best show I've been told. But if this is 2nd best (which I thought was quite good) his best must be really something.
So from someone who at one time hated all of his post idol works, now I can slow down and take in about 1/2 of the 2 albums material and enjoy it. I think that is really something.

OMG was Damien wearing WILD COLONIAL BOY? lucky girls Thank you so much for the vids, Christyl, I'll have to wait til later to see them but saw a tiny snippet and saw teh outfit and thanks to you and Jim for posting all your reports, love reading all the reactions and thoughts. Sounds like the most wonderful show, and Damien did "Bigger Plan" - wow how exciting for you to hear that one again, that was one of the first originals we ever heard way back from the myspace! Always loved that song, the story about coming in on the plane, it used to make me think how brave it is to make the leap to start a whole new life somewhere and how daunting those first moments must be. So great that Damien sung "Unchained Melody" again, he has sung it at the past couple I've been to as well and it's always so popular, and just perfect for his voice. I noticed it was so different at Lizottes compared to Canterbury. At Lizottes everyone sung along, the whole audience knew all the words and it was really lovely the way the room was singing, at one point Damien stopped to listen and said it was lovely. At Canterbury it was a bigger space and though I think a few joined in, it was more the performers singing on their own while everyone too it in and that was gorgeous too, but a totally different feel. So just goes to show how one song can translate so differently in each room, makes each new show so interesting to see as they are never alike, they are such organic things. Looks in some ways like it was qute a different setlist again to the other day too, looking forward to hearing more about all the songs - was there a piano? Great that you enjoyed the venue so much too Poor Eric!! OMG the poor man has been in the wars this tour, I hope he's feeling better by now. Lots of pirate jokes, lol, would have loved to see that from our favourite Hawt Pirate We could see Jarvis was wearing a little pirate bandana/scarf around his neck at Canterbury, too cute for words, baby pirate!! Can't wait to see how everyone else enjoyed it all and wow, you've all ony just started, 3 more to go!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! What an absolute fabulous night!! Seriously, we had an absolute ball! I'll be back in a short while to do my report and post some piccys Just to clear up the confusion, Damien didn't sing Never meant to Fail, I think what Jim was referring to regarding those songs he posted, is that they are the ones he HAS liked hearing him sing. He did do Alone though Sis has our setlist, and she will post that when she can ;D STAY TUNED......................... Have I told you lately that D is just the best ;D oh and YES we DID GET LOST!!!
