SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE [ Like I said the crowd was big and really into it, at the end of the show when Damien says he has to go now and say goodnight, this little voice out of nowhere calls out *but I could listen to you all night* it was a childs voice, and over the noise, Damien turned to where he heard the voice and asked what she had said, and everyone was quiet and she said it again! OMG it was the most amazing thing to hear. Damien was really touched as was the rest of the crowd and they all clapped and woohooed her. So he sang a couple more songs. Damien got a standing ovation at the end and the room just erupted. I felt so happy and proud for Damien. Great to hear about the standing ovation.. I remember at CHPRSL, i jumped up at the end, but not too many followed me. Its all about the mood of the crowd overall and i think the Queenslanders were on fire.

Only a few hours sleep here, and I am STILL feeling just soooooo excited....wow!!! Just a few more things I remembered.... Damien was making quite a few jokes about forgetting lyrics, etc, and asked the audience a couple of times to help him out....which had everyone laughing, and so many calling out that he didn't have a hope of hearing what any ONE person was saying! He made his usual "confession" about Vincent (and then deliberately sang "flaming floors"....afterwards saying "it SHOULD be flaming floors....flaming flowers....no, flaming floors does sound better". My friend afterwards said to me, "He never had to make a confession, you know! He could have just said he actually WAS singing "Flaming flowers", and it was his accent!" She was very impressed with Damien's honesty, but DID think he could have got away with it with a bit of fudging....lol. I can't remember if anyone else has written about this or not....but the carpark joke is about how he sometimes gets met in the carpark by these woman (who often have 5 burly men around them), who wave broken bottles at him and accuse "Now WHY didn't you sing THAT song!!"....and then he said "THIS is one of those songs"...and sang Unchained Melody. This was at Kedron, but there was a also hint of the same little story at Redcliffe about being accosted in carparks. (You know, I couldn't help but think about how many times some of the people from this forum have encountered Damien in carparks...! ) Up behind me I had a group of about six elderly people, and they were REALLY getting into it, clapping loudly, laughing....the guy was trying to do the deep notes really loudly, etc. As we were getting up to leave I heard one of them saying "ohhh....My hands are sooooo sore from clapping so hard!! " , and another answered "oh, but wasn't it WORTH it!? He is SO amazing!!!" That was brilliant to hear. ;D And during the break I asked a couple of people near me how they were enjoying it, and they all said they had travelled miles to see him and were seeing him for the fourth time, sixth time, etc. So there are plenty of "D Groupies" around! ;D

Question... is the media as excited about the CTW tour.. and is he getting great post-performance raves? Im sure i can look at the media thread but its just a general question.

Rivers, I haven't seen anything at all....not even a local paper announcing the concerts were on! Which makes it doubly amazing that Damien can still fill a good-sized concert hall even without lots of advance publicity. I don't know if any of the concerts have been advertised on radio or not, and DC hasn't told us about any radio interview up here, has he, Carla? We can only hope that there was a reporter there last night, because, if so, I am sure the write up would be absolutely glowing! ;D

Thanks for the extra reporting Christyl.
Rivers, there is no post concert report from the media in the Media thread other than one from Perth in July. Tina wrote to the paper and they printed an editted version of her letter/report

Damien said he couldn't see the crowd at one point and got the lights turned up and Eric took a photo of the crowd he said it would be up on his myspace! I couldn't believe it when Damien started singing KISS at the end, the crowd went nuts. All those little spontaneous songs thrown in amongst one of the best setlists I've listened to was such a treat for us. Oh,I had forgotten that.... That was SO funny when Eric took the pic! He would have got a pic of us all laughing so hard! Also, when Damen did the snippet from "Kiss", he was REALLY rocking it, and when he got to that famous last word, he didn't sing it, but did this little lunge forward from the piano, and pointed at the audience, and right on cue they SHOUTED back "KISS!!" and then erupted again into thunderous applause and laughter! It was just MAGIC! He also got us all to sing along the last words to "Great Balls of Fire" (or shout them, rather.... ) Damien also won them over right at the beginning by saying "You all watching Idol this year, then? Are you proud of your girl? Isn't she doing a FABULOUS job!?" and they all erupted into applause (Chrislyn obviously has huge local support!). When he was getting such a good response later, he again said something like "I can see why Redcliffe produces such great artists, if they support them like this! We will have to come back more often " (more applause...and whistles...lol. ) As my girlfriend said later...."How lovely of him to take the trouble to touch on a piece of local pride, it really won them over..." (but then, she was totally smitten as well....lol) I also loved the way that the audience didn't just wait until the END of songs, either....if Damien did a particularly great note, or even a funny bit in the middle, they even spontaneoulsy applauded then! They really just so much appreciated the whole showman side that Damien does so well, and he became even MORE of a ham....if that was possible.... Ah...it was just lovely, it was. I am getting all teary eyed again just remembering it....

What incredible reading!! All your excitement is jumping off the page Roxy and Christyl! Sounds like this venue really went off and I love the sounds of a "Room full of Damienites" Sounds like a beautiful venue too, and you all had great viewing and great sound. That little voice at the end calling out was gorgeous, such a special moment for Damien to remember OMG Sis, your comments you called out were so funtarstic I love it, sounds like you brought the house down. What a setlist!!! And OMG surprise songs Great Balls of Fire AND Kiss WOW I would love to see Damien sing Kiss sooooooo much, must have been brilliant! Isn't it great too how such a high percentage of the show is original songs! I am so glad "Catch the Wind" is staying in the list, I suppose it would being the name of the album but it's still my favourite of all the covers, I just love it. How great that you all got the piano and the piano songs - would have been amazing! It's so great when the whole room gets going and also stands as one at the end to really appreciate the artists, and during the show when all that energy goes back and forth between the artists and the room, it makes the show so magic throughout So glad this show was such a great one at Redcliffe

and Shims, when he said it was time to go, practically the whole room called out "noooooo..."....it was straight after that that the little girl piped up and said "We could listen to you all night!". I also REALLY liked that they even gave Eric thunderous applause at least two or three times when he had done a particularly amazing piece of guitar work. I could see he was thrilled when they did that....and yes, even Ms Cool and Composed Indie was smiling and laughing...lol. OH, and I am missing the BEST bit! Right near the end, when Damien said "Lets give it up for the amazing ERIC ARANDA"...and then "Lets give it up for the amazing INDIE STAR!!". someone from the audience THEN yelled out "And lets give it up for the amazing DAMIEN LEITH"!! ...and the whole room just ERUPTED with cheers and whistles!!! oh, that was THE BEST!!!!!!!! You could see Damien was just absolutely delighted..!
