Okay I said it before and I will say it again....
OH MY GOD!!!! I came home yesterday wanting to do a report and only had a short amount of time so basically all I could spit out was Oh My God, and words like amazing and incredible and perfect and mind blowing!
I will
TRY to make a bit more sense and give more details today
Roxy and Dawn have already done such a great job with their reports...thanks so much girls!
Okay to start at the beginning (before the show)....I was standing on Sutherland station when I got a call from Roxy...."where are you?"..."Sutherland...where are you?" "Sutherland" says Roxy. "You can't be, I am standing on the platform"....it turns out, they were right down the very end. I lent forward at the same time as Roxy and we both spotted each other on the phones and SQUEEEEEEEEELED very loudly and I proceeded to run towards her and Sis. Not a good look I can tell you but hey what can I say...my emotions took over!
After lots of hugs and squeee's with Sis and Rox, we started to talk and let me tell you, I don't think we stopped for breath for 3 days
We met the beautiful Dawnie a bit later on after some "malling"...(walking up and down the Cronulla Mall and admiring all the clothes stores and great shops and cafe's. What a gorgeous place!
We checked in and went "malling" again and Roxy bought a gorgeous dress which she wore that night. She looked stunning!
The apartment was just incredible. Top floor and overlooking Cronulla beach and park. Plenty of space and stunning views.
Anyway.....onto the show
(just setting the scene)
We were all ready by 7pm and had a few pre dinner drinks. Now...this is the time I have to be completely upfront and say, yes, I did have a lot to drink on this particular night. I didn't have lunch or brekky (does coffee and an energy drink count?) and on this first night, I have to admit, the dinner was unfortunately not to my liking. So any thing I did drink was on an empty stomach.
The girls assured me that I didn't do anything too embarrassing (the photo's afterwards speak otherwise..haha).
Although the fact that I yelled out "I LOVE YOU" at the top of my lungs to Damien after he did sang Creep was a sure sign that this little chicky had too much to drink...... (insert shameful face here).
But honestly.....we had the BEST NIGHT!
Back to the story
We walked down the stairs of the Brass Monkey and went straight to the bar for a drink!
We saw George at the bar and had a bit of a chat with him. He had known the girls were coming down from Brisbane for both shows
We then went to walk over to a small area to have our drink before sitting down for dinner and we saw Damien sitting down and he waved. We went to sit down on some bar stools and heard this lovely familiar voice say "Well hello ladies"
We all simultaneously looked Damien up and down from head to toe...
as he did look so very handsome in his white shirt, black vest, black tie, black pants and black pointy shoes. As you all know...I am very partial to the ALL BLACK look, however, this is now my new favourite
Very closely followed by the all black and black jacket/s
We had a hug and kiss and such a lovely chat and Damien went back to his dinner, and us our drinks.
We then sat down for dinner which as I said, I was not too fond of and neither was Roxy. The food was fresh and fine, just not so much to our taste although I did like the meals I chose on the 2nd night.
The support act was really good. I think her name was Gemma. Cute girl and a good entertainer. We really enjoyed her.
We had the front table of 4 so we had the best seats in the house! ;D
I think Damien came on around 9.15pm? As mentioned, he came out and blew us ALL AWAY with Never Meant to Fail and dedicated it to the 4 ladies in the front table. We all let out a loud scream and that was just beginning of what was the best night and we really were all on fire, I have to say!
The girls think that they have converted me to a true tart now!
I have done a few "tarty" things in the past but yes, I do think the Christmas G String has now added me to the Hall of Fame with the other underwear givers...You all know who you are!
There was so many comments yelled out and so much interaction between ourselves and Damien and we kept the crowd entertained. People were even yelling out "you go girls" because we were singing and bopping away and clapping and just having the BEST TIME!
When Damien came out and did his little acoustic set, I had NO idea he would be doing Creep until he said this is a song I did on Idol and strangely enough was my wedding song....and I don't think I heard the rest as I nearly fell off my chair. Finally after 20 or so shows, it was my turn to hear the pure magic of that song!
All I can say is....
SO WORTH THE WAIT! As I mentioned earlier....when Damien finished singing..
I yelled out
I LOVE YOU which was followed by Roxy yelling out
SO DO I!! I wish I could recall every second of this show as there was so much fun and so much banter
Damien's voice was just beautiful...and the notes! Holy Moly, we were just all looking at each other in awe of him!
The set list was just fantastic and to get so many of the songs we all wanted to hear was AMAZING!
Message to my Girl was just so stunning!
Damien said he had not sang it before with just his guitar but let me tell you, it was perfect and I hope he considers doing it again in the future
We didn't get any new songs this time around but we got lots of songs from Where We Land on both nights which is always such a highlight
Once again (like my other report) I could go on and on all day. But honestly, this was absolutely one of the best shows I have been to and I had SOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun with the girls.
Thank you soooooo much Roxy, Sis and Dawn for being such fun and fantastic company for this show, and the other one too of course! I want to do it all over again!!! ;D
And as always, a huge thank you to Damien for being soooo lovely to us and being so kind as to play some of the songs we have been requesting. I did get a chance the following night to thank Damien for doing Creep but once again, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I looooooooooooooooooooooooved it!
