Hi guys...
Shims asked me to post this report in this thread on my fund raising for the SO.
I mentioned in the Hut at the end of last month about the Golf day which our work has been associated with for many years and that as it was the last time I was going to be involved (I am retiring at the end of March) I was able to get up and say a 'few' words of farewell, thanks, sucking up.. you know the sort of thing. Told them I was retiring and that one of my first projects was the Run with the Law.... My DD and her DH said I did a pretty good job, although I was so nervous up there with the mike in front of over 100 people.
Managed to throw in a couple of little jokes like....
"I've been baking and supplying 15doz melting moments every year for 12 years, so this year I'm gonna put the bite on them!"....
"Running with the law, not away from them like usually"....
"Would be hard for me to keep up with the cops because they're so fit from chasing crooks all day"
"Every day I wake up and say to myself, "What was I thinking?"
Anyway, I gave them the Glawz treatment, turned on the fatal charm, went around all the tables and collected $810 for the Special Olympics.
I am just so stoked I had to have a brag moment. The generosity of the people at the dinner so exceeded my expectations. It could have been of course, that they thought it was good the
'old bat' was knicking off for good and it was worth the payout to get rid of me
The truth is I was so lucky to be in the right place and take the opportunity of pushing my barrow a bit. Jeeps.... I'm better at pushing the barrow than I thought!!!!
I couldn't sleep that night 'coz I was so excited!!
If you are checking out the web site donation list, the whole $810 is not listed together because a couple of the people wanted receipts so they are listed under their own names, but the total for the night was $810!! Whooppeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
