Morgs, I will be a spectator if you would like me to help out in any way. Thanks braffy - that's very kind of you. Let me have a think about logistics and get back to you... Also, our kids had a Bike A Thon to raise money for SO. We were going to enter a seperate team for the RWTL for them, but that kind of fizzled, so I just put the funds into my page on DLO... Add another $750.60 to the total please!! Team DLO in 2nd place !!

I'm back. ;D I've received my lovely t-shirt. The shirts are long and loosely-fitted. I was a bit worried that they would be short and tight. I also received a bottle of water which I think I am going to need as it is very hot and muggy. Lucky I'm only running the last leg. Oh yeah, the lady at the sign-in table asked me what "DLO" means and so I had to explain it to her. After she heard the words "Damien Leith" she knew who I was talking about. ;D I'll be off again in a couple of hours to join the runners.

The final leg took place at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens which is about a 10-15 minute walk from where I work and so I decided I would join in the final legal of the run doing my lunchbreak. Upon signing in this morning I asked what time I should be back as I would hate to miss it and was told that everyone would be assembling for the final leg between 12:15pm and 12:30pm. I arrived at the Gardens at about 12:20pm and I couldn't see anyone assembled and when I was told that I was too late my heart just dropped to the ground. But it was okay everyone had assembled elsewhere and so I caughted up with them and waited with them until the other runners had arrived. I almost got to carry the torch for part of the run. One of the ladies asked me my name and she introduced me to everyone. Everyone was so friendly. After a few minutes we could see the runners approaching and we all got ready to cheer them on and clap. In the meantime there were other joggers in the Gardens running past us and we were clapping and cheering them on and you could see that these joggers were trying really hard not to laugh. It was so funny. Once the runners arrived, we joined in the front. The torch carriers were right up front and the rest of us ran along behind them. During the run the participants were all so very happy, shouting out and singing. They were singing and chanting for Queensland. I wish I knew the song as I would have joined in. ;D As we were nearing the finish line the pace started to pick up a bit and everyone was so happy. There was a sausage sizzle happening afterwards. I would have liked to have joined in but I couldn't stay as I had to get back to work. I really did enjoy myself. Everyone was so warm and friendly and cheerful. I would definitely do it again.
