I'M BACK!!
Running on lack of sleep so sorry if this is disjointed, spelling mistakes, grammar....etc etc...
I had a FANTASTIC time in Mackay! it was just brilliant to get away with the family and sightsee to our hearts delight, and of course we covered nearly everything there was to see in Mackay so it was just brilliant!
I'll talk about the show now.. just to stay on topic..
The venue was lovely, (it had recently been refurbished) it wasn't on the city side of Mackay, it was over the bridge on the North side, so not alot out that way.
We arrived around 6ish to have dinner, my DD was meeting her friend there also, so it was a lovely catch up. The meal was Disgusting!!! I paid $20 for a potato!! as the fish was rubbery and cold! I didn't have time to take it back as the show was about to start, it took that long to get our meals,
kind of reminded me of The Diggers club we went to last year!!
But a few
and my stomach had forgotten it hadn't eaten much
so all good.
I went to the show with (now this might get confusing
) my DD's bestie's Mother! and her boyfriends Mother! DD is dating her besties cousin! So the two sisters came to the show with me! they virtually know nothing of Damien, only that they
thought he'd won Idol!
There was a lot of filling in to be had in such a short time!!
so we went to Mackay for a few different reasons and it was great catching up with them all again!
I hadn't mentioned to D that I was going, and we were seated in the 2nd row at the end, so I didn't think he would spot me anyway once those lights dimmed! The crowd was very small, so it was a very intimate gig!!

There were a few ladies front and centre and they reminded me of US (Damienites)
they were having a blast!! Calling out, clapping all the time and really enjoying the show. After Crying one of the ladies got up and shook D's hand, it was really lovely!
The jokes were as funny as, doesn't matter how many times I hear them, D always makes them sound so spontaneous! I still laugh and giggle at them all!
After about song 2 or 3, I thought D hadn't seen me, I noticed he was glancing in our direction a few times, and then all of a sudden before he went into the next song he stopped and pointed at me and said a BIG HI from the stage, and said how ya going! I just gave a little (maybe a big one ;D ;D) smile back and a wave! While D was asking for requests in the acoustic part of the show, people were calling out all sorts of songs, he then said, how about I tell you what I won't be playing
I then called out "Golden Line"
and he repeated it and said..yeah now that would be great and said he'd do that when the guys came back. I was doing the hand/finger actions of *on the piano* (I can't remember exactly what he said but he liked the idea of doing it on Piano) so I was quite excited to maybe hearing it. Well he was still asking for requests and so I thought I'd ask for an acoustic song (more appropriate this time)
and asked for Stay! he agreed again and said he'd sing that one,
he explained about the song (Beaconfield Miners ) and sat at the piano and I just melted into a puddle! it was just gorgeous!! I haven't heard this song live so it was a nice treat!
The show was great all round, like I said small crowd, but they got into the swing of things in the faster songs, but loved the quieter numbers also.
As Damien was finishing off the show, he was about to do his encore song Hallelujah and said that was his last song! As he hadn't done Golden Line he must of seen the look on my face
when I realised he wasn't going to sing it after all. Well, he kept looking my way as if to say..oops I forgot your song! it was so sweet and he made mention of it later also and said he'd completely forgotten, I just said there was always next week if he wanted to add it!

He did a signing afterwards and sold quite a few Cd's, books etc. When we went over to say hello, I got a huge hug and kiss and had a little chat. The guys are driving all the way down, so five hours or more each day will take it out of them I'm sure.
Now here is the funny part (well to me anway), I told Sis about it and didn't actually think she'd post that I had some hilarous news, as I knew you'd all think that it was more about D, but it was about my friend. She asked D if he had any T-shirts for sale!! he looked at her funny (he probably thought she wanted the one he was wearing!
and he said, no we don't sell t-shirts,
I was then about to ask D to sign my Single and my friend pulls out this ..
Im in stitches just remembering this part!! she pulls out one of the cardboard coasters from the venue and said could you please sign this, as I don't have any cash on me to buy a cd, only my credit card!
I couldn't stop laughing when I saw this coaster and I think Damien thought the same as he was laughing too, so he reached over into the box on the floor and said, I think I can do better than that and signed a CD for her and gave it to her! ;D She was so stoked, and then he looked at her sister and said, would you like one also? she was nodding that hard and grinning like this
that I thought her head would fall off!
so he signed her one also, he then looked at me and said would I like one!
I politely declined and said I think I already have enough!
We stayed and had a little chat, D told me about the ads being played throughout the logies show, so that was great!
All in all a FANTASTIC NIGHT! My friends absolutely loved Damien and said they were so excited to have also met a super star!!
