My son who is a U2 fan through and through and has every single album of theirs in his collection rang me last night and said that he finally found the time to listen to ROY .I gave him the album last week
He told me that he and his wife love it not like it but love it and he said that Damien's voice has improved especially in the lower and middle register-"his words".
He then said that Damien's album ROY is best album that he has ever heard and that includes any U2 album
That is a remarkable statement coming from him because I know what he thinks of U2

Wow that's awesome Brian, It's great isn't it, when you hear from people who aren't huge fans like us, or haven't really heard what Damien can do, to then give Damien and his music huge praise. ;D

My brother also rang me to tell me how much he liked the album. He was a huge Roy Orbison fan and he told me that I have now converted him to Damien. My other brother has also bought the album and really enjoys it too. He was not too keen on the 'rap' version of Sweet Dream Baby but has fallen in love with it since playing it a few times.

I know Damien has said he's moved on from that Remember June stage and is now excited about this album "Roy"... and I am too about a new project... BUT, I still hold out hope that that amaaaazing album, "Remember June", will now get exposure to his re-discovering fans through Roy ... and I really believe that it'll be one of those slow burners building up to a a nice solid following as a classic album as it should be recognised. Having said that, I notice that the show promo only mentions That it's a tribute to Roy Orbison... I hope he leaves room for some originals too? Well said Nuffy I know Damien has said he's moved on from that Remember June stage and is now excited about this album "Roy"... and I am too about a new project... BUT, I still hold out hope that that amaaaazing album, "Remember June", will now get exposure to his re-discovering fans through RoyI love what Damien has done with ROY, it was a pleasant surprise for me, and he should be so proud that it has debuted at #5 on the Aria Charts!... but I will never forget either how I felt about REMEMBER JUNE from the beginings. Watching the videos he posted online with Stu (Moonman) as they were making the album giving us teasers and sharing the funny moments etc, and the invite to the Listening Party at SONY, and to top it off...the best show on earth at the State Theatre!! ;D The album was brilliant!.... and so is ROY!! Yeah, Roxy and Nuffy, I completely agree with everything both of you said. Hopefully D will mention RJ and play some songs from it at his shows, rather than just promoting Roy. And hopefully there will be copies of RJ for sale at the shows. Wow Brian, that's pretty amazing. Did you recommend D's other albums to him? Good to hear, Braffy! I know a lot of people don't like D releasing covers, but it definitely helps him get noticed by people who wouldn't otherwise be interested, which is really cool.

Hey Spud
Yes I have given him every album (Because I really wanted him to feel how I felt about Damien I guess ) and he has liked them all BUT he has never responded like this before a remarkable turnaround in his response. He has been a fan ever since he heard him sing Crying on AI but now he thinks of him as a great singer instead of a very good singer.

Remember June converted one of my friends. She rang me last night to day she has bought Roy and loves it. She is a bit of a music snob. Like Brian I also think that Damien's lower register is beautiful. What arange he has and getting stronger all the time.

I took my girlfriend Jennie (we've been friends since we were 7 yrs old, hey, that means this year is our 40th anniversary, I must text her ), to one of Damien's shows last November. She loved it, of course She is always a very inquiring person and when she heard about ROY, she asked lot's of questions and was amazed at my knowledge. Last night I gave her the CD for her birthday , and she told me that she had booked tickets for her and her husband to go to the July show . Then she said " you're gunna have me hooked!" ! Yep, another convert
