Woohoo! sounds like it was fantastic gig! Loved the description of Darren's encore drumming and then "Are You Gunna Go My Way" Fabulous!! and "Goodnight" - HOOORAY!!! Love, love love that song and it's fab that D did an RJ song!! Onya ladies for the big cheer! s Way to let him know that's what we want to hear! OOw and Stuie was there too! Brilliant! I bet he loved hearing music he's produced being played to such an appreciative audience and seeing D in his element! ;D Pity no dance from Mel and D, but it's wonderful that Mel is now such a big fan..and who wouldn't be? Thanks ladies. PS Spuddles that song was "Mean Woman Blues", which you would have known if you'd read the Palms thread. *looks forward to hearing about Braff's special moment!*

*Sigh* What an amazing show. Words cannot describe how fantastic it was. Spud and Shims have said so much already. Damien didn't sing Mystery Girl, She's A Mystery to Me (I have no idea why I originally wrote Mystery Girl ) which was a shame but I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED hearing Goodnight (that one came out of nowhere but was much appreciated) and also Damien dedicated 'I drove All Night' to the girls in the front row. That is one of my favourite top 3 songs on the album and sounds so good live. In fact EVERYTHING sounds so good live. I think the 'Braffy' moment that Spud referred to was during this song. Do you recall Glawzy's comments in the album thread about if Damien crept into her room etc. she would say 'bugger off'? Well, let's just say that got quite excited during this part of the song and called out 'yes please' or Whoo hoo or some other strange noise came out of the mouth The got such a shock that I can't recall what Damien's response was. Someone please tell me I think I am like Shims and turn into someone else when I am at a concert. The band were so good together. Damien had complete control of the audience or should I say, the audience was under Damien's spell. Every song was a beauty. To see the whole audience, lower level plus the upper level all rise up at the end of the show must have been such a special moment for Damien. I hope he soaked it all in. It was thoroughly deserved He had a massive smile on his face when he was taking the photo. That theatre holds 1600 people and it was pretty much a sold out concert. There were gifts handed to Damien, but I will leave it to the people responsible to talk about them. ;D I had a young gentleman and a young lady sitting next to me. Before the show started I asked him if he had seen Damien in concert before and he replied that he hadn't. 'Damien virgins'. I was interested in what they thought of the concert. He seemed to be enjoying it, taking a lot of photos, video and looking at the audience reactions. After it was over I asked him what he thought and he was saying how great it was and they enjoyed it a lot. I asked what made him come and he mistook what I said and replied on the internet. I said he was lucky that he got the front row. He was really pleased with that too. He then said that they were from France. I asked again about why he came to see this show and he looked at me as if I was crazy for asking and said to see him of course. So, there you go, another 2 people who hadn't seen Damien perform before came and would definitely see him again. The lines to see Damien after the show stretched from the front of the theatre where the signings were happening to well into the theatre seating area itself. People were buying all the different forms of merchandise. One young lady joined the end of the queue clutching her new copy of the book 'Remember June'. Dawn asked her if she had heard the album 'Remember June' and she hadn't. She then heard from a chorus of us how good the album was, so hopefully she will buy it. I was so ready for this show and Damien didn't disappoint. Not that I expected him to. There was dancing in the aisles, clapping, cheering and very happy faces all around. It was so good to see some of my DLO friends again, see Damien and band and lovely that Darren was here to share with his brother the last 2 amazing shows being the Palms and Emore Theatre.

Bahaha!! Braffster, ya I'd love to know what D said! WOW!! 1600!! That's awesome, double the Palms capacity! Thanks for the report Braff!. Sounds like a great night was had by many people. ;D Like the "virgins" story! I spoke to some folks who were at their first gig at the Palms also.and they were gobsmacked by D's live performance skills too! (As we hear every time!) ;D only one complaint from most people: THE SHOW IS TOO SHORT! .. D, 90 mins (including a little banter and encore) just isn't long enough to listen to that glorious voice. A few more songs (ie a couple more RJ numbers, or Kiss! or maybe a request or two..anything but DB LOL)) would be brilliant! ;D I know we'd never let you go, if we had our way, and this music is a test of your vocals each time, but WE WANT MORE!!!... just sayin ;D

Totally agree Trilly. I heard a few people saying that they could keep listening to him for a few more hours.

One thing that I didn't like and I meant to put it in my report was the fog machine. It was really uncomfortable and I hope it is not a permanent fixture.

The band were wearing a 'uniform' last night and they looked so smart. Black trousers and a black shirt. They compemented Damien who was wearing black jeans, black shirt, skinny black tie and a black jacket (and sunnies for the first few songs )

One thing that I didn't like and I meant to put it in my report was the fog machine. It was really uncomfortable and I hope it is not a permanent fixture. Really have to agree there too, Braffster. In the first five rows or so it makes ya gag - not pleasant. I wonder how D sings breathing it in! It looks great, but feels yuk. I suspect it'll only be used for the capital city shows though. Re the set length, most artists do 90 mins these days, but it's almost continuous, with no banter to speak of. I'd hate it we lost that part of the show in favour of strict timing, it's a big part of D's appeal on stage! However, just one or two more songs would make for a more satisfying experience overall, IMO.

Wow! Thank you so much for your brilliant reports Spuddy, Shims and Braffy. ;D Sounded absolutely AMAZING. I would of loved to have been there, the atmosphere and crowd sounded really good too, I LOVE A GOOD CROWD!!! YAY ABOUT GOODNIGHT! Fantastic that he got a RJ song in there. Also would love if he sang 'She's A Mystery Girl' ... Hopefully, maybe, he will sing it later on in the tour! *fingers crossed* Lots of familiar faces there too, Mel, Sam and Stu, AWESOME! (Shame Mel & D didn't dance, but hey at least she got up in the aisles and had a bit of a jig! ;D ) Btw; Agree with you Trilly, the set needs to be longer. All Roy songs (including SAMG) plus a couple of RJ songs and/or Beautiful. Also Kiss or maybe Never Tear Us Apart just for me?

Ooooh Thanks Lovelies for the great reports, Shims, Spud and Braffy. WOW sounds just fantastic, and absolutely love hearing how HUGE the crowds are! So happy for D that he is playing to almost and in some cases SOLD out shows!! haha Braff, you don't often get but I think you have this time! it's funny the things we yell out in the heat of the moment isn't it!! Great to hear that Sunrise were there too filming, hope we see some of D singing on telly tomorrow then! Yeah, the thought of 90mins is a bit of a killer! damn!! I WANT more too! (just joining in the chant ) Glad you all got to see D too, I hope he is more relaxed now, shame Darren can't stay with D on the tour, but at least we still get a drummer along the way! LOVE THAT DAMIEN SANG "GOODNIGHT" WOOOOOT!! hope that stays on the setlist.....PLEASEEEEEEEEE!! and so sweet that D has dedicated "drove all night" to the Damienites...it is a GREAT song!! Thanks again for the reports, and Shims I don't know how you write such informative and readable posts after a few cocktails and in the early hours of the morning! ;D your a gem coming on at that hour to post for us
