Dublin-born Aussie chart-topper, Damien Leith, will be serenading fans at Westfield Hurstville on Thursday 5 May, when he will perform tracks from his fifth studio album, ROY – A Tribute To Roy Orbison on Centre Court (Level 1).

The evening’s entertainment will start at 6:30pm when the Season 4 Australian Idol winner will perform three songs live on stage, before meeting fans and signing copies of his new album.

Produced by Roy Orbison’s widow, Barbara, and the only official tribute album released to coincide with Roy’s 75th birthday anniversary, ROY features Damien Leith’s rendition of hits such as ‘Only The Lonely’, ‘Pretty Woman’ and ‘Crying’

Roy Orbison has been a long and inspiring influence in Damien Leith’s career. First introduced to Orbison’s music by his father as a teenager, it became a special connection in 2006 when Damien performed ‘Crying’ on the Australian Idol stage to rapturous feedback and a ‘touchdown’ moment with the judges.

Since his 2006 win on Australian Idol, Damien has won an ARIA Award for Highest Selling Album, achieved four ARIA #1 Chart Awards and been nominated for an MTV Award as well as a Helpmann Award. Damien is also an accomplished author, having released two books through Harper Collins, and is a columnist for The Punch.

Fans must have their own copy of ROY to enter the autograph-signing area on Centre Court. Copies of the album will be available for purchase at Westfield Hurstville.

Hi Braffy, I got a bit confused about the heading for this appearance, what is Westfiels?

Oh I just read through the post, oops, its supposed to be Westfield.
Can you possibly fix the subject line so that people who may want to go don't get confused

Thanks for bringing this to my attention Princey. I have fixed it now, although I think most people would understand what I had written and would know where it was. It is written big enough in the first post for them to see, but just in case there was someone confused it is all correct now.

Well I am trying to get to this but we have our monthly meeting on the first Thursday of each month and I will not know until sometime on that day IF I can get there

I am even less close, but did consider it, but decided against wandering around Hurstville on my own, catching public transport late to Central...then back home. Hope someone gets there and enjoys and reports ;D

Due to work commitments I an unable to get there in time however
for the first time in days and days it is a beautiful day today in Sydney and the perfect time to go shopping for a mothers day present at Westfield Hurstville and also catch three songs from Damo's new album ROY.

The atmosphere should be electric there around 6.30 pm

As I said earlier I will be unable to get away from work in time to see Damien tonight however my son ( who now after hearing ROY has earmarked Damien as a great singer instead of a good singer) will be going there tonight to see him and get his copy signed .
