I know it's late, but what the heck, tomorrow is Sunday
Gotta get it off my chest while I'm on a high
Official set list above! As stolen by me and signed by Damien, I said a hand written one would have been better, but D said they don't do that anymore coz no one can read each others writing.... YES ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D We got to chat after the show
I almost dared not to dream of a meet & greet, so as not to be disappointed.
Any way from the beginning
Venue was stalls only, balcony was not sold and just a couple of rows at the back unsold.
Mick McHugh was a lot of fun, and although I was really wishing for Diana, I have to admit that Mick was a much better fit with the audience.
Same outfit as Adelaide, black & greyish, with the velvet pants, which Eric kept ribbing him about. Eric also gave him heaps about his brown Shoes (with black & grey
Maybe he did an Eric and forgot his shoes
, and they were laceups which he had to stop & tie in the middle of the show. Which then led to him telling us how he has been teaching the boys to tie their laces.
Set lists are made to be broken, so the official list above which is very similar to Adelaide with some exciting exceptions!
Song no. 9 offers a choice of three, and as in Adelaide they went with RUNNING SCARED. Then not on the list but straight after that all the band left the stage except Caeser and D acted out being surprised that they were left alone on stage, The did RUN, with Caeser playing his little guitar "thingy". (So that was in place of WOULDN'T CHANGE... )
Then there was a ramped up version of MAYBE SOMEDAY, was looking forward to those high notes, but alas, not.
And if I can divert for a moment, I sometimes muse about where D will go next with his music. ROY - T.WILBURYS - GEORGE HARRISON - BEATLES...
no, stop that train of thought immediately
. Half way through MS, D & E break out into LIVE & LET DIE (Paul McCarney & Wings?) Aarrrgh.... no.... it sounded great! And then D went into some James Bond moves at the end, and pointed his finger revolver at the audience
LMBYRESCUE on the list but they didn't play it-
And the one from left field for tonight was ALL I WANT IS YOU, with the audience participation being us sing the
"eeeee e e e e e" bits. Loving hearing that one.
And our RJ tune for tonight was GOODNIGHT , which is great coz it's a nice long one ;D he sang that one first for the encore and then ended with GMMSOY/PW mix and I then that is where E went into some D.Sraits.
E & C have new wireless guitars, they are no longer attached to their amp' so can move around the stage, so they swapped sides of the stage for a bit just to show how clever they were. When E did his D/Straits bit, he jumped down off the stage (which was pretty high) into the audience, and had a little bit of trouble getting back up
.
That's it for the show, crowd took a little while to get into it, but warmed up. I led the standing ovation at the end, it only takes one person to get them all on their feet
With D, there is no such thing as a bad show, but when you see so many you can be a bit "nit-picky" but I won't coz he's perfect!
Yes..... he came out after the show
he is such a darling I just want to sqeeze him to bits!!!
Tina and I waited back until we were nearly the last ones, then went in for the
kill HUG
.
We talked about the cancelling of Mandurah and (he really should go into Politics) he always knows what to say. Without any mention of lack of sales, he said "that show should never have been booked. The venues are 50 mins apart and it doesn't make sense to do two venues that close together"
Can't remember anything else, love, love, love him
.
Tina took my photo with D, and when we walked outside I looked at it and it was a terrible photo of me
. Iwas very disappointed. Tina and I said our goodbyes and went off in diff' directions but then I came back, looked in to see that D only had a couple of people left there, so I plucked up the courage to go back and annoy him for another photo, one I was willing to show off
Very late now, I will be back to put up photos tomorrow.
Over & out
