I am back
What a fantastic, enjoyable, entertaining concert.
The SOLO shows are such a different vibe to the ones with the band. Both are good to be at.
Jess Chalker supported Damien again and i have heard her a few times now and I thought she sounded the best of those times today. She looked gorgeous in a beautiful dress.
Unfortunately, she had to get back to Sydney so there were no duets like there had been at the Newcastle show.
Damien
White shirt, pink tie, blue jeans, black shoes.
Catch The Wind
Only The Lonely (Damien changed the lyric from
tonight to
this afternoon)
I've Faith In Me - a new one that is a co-write with Joe Melson who wrote a lot of Roy Orbisons songs with him.
If Tomorrow Never Comes
22 Steps
Sky
Irish selection of songs:
Seven Drunken Nights (only sang Monday, Wednesday and Friday verses)
Rocky Road to Dublin
Danny Boy
Damien then said he would sing an Australian song. There was a choice, one that he knew the words to or one that he didn't know many words of it.
He chose to sing the one he knew least. He apologized in advance if he got the words wrong.
Tenterfield Saddler
At one stage Damien stopped singing because he got confused with his jackaroos and kangaroos
but he had it right anyway. I think he was overthinking it at the time.
Beautiful- rousing applause for it. I'm so pleased that people are finding out about this gorgeous song.
Creep - mentioned about how he and Eileen sang it to each other at the wedding reception. Damien emphasised the 'perfect body' lyrics.
Damien spoke of how Barbara Orbison was very helpful when he was recording 'ROY: A Tribute to Roy Orbison' album and that she sent him a message that said
You've Got It
Hed spoke of receiving norti gifts (while Dawn was there ready to give him a gift)
Annie's Song (requested)
For some special ladies in the audience that have been requesting songs from Remember June for a while
Golden Line
Sounded amaaaaazing
He said it was the first time he had done it acoustically.
Everybody's Talking with audience participation
Stronger Than Superman (another new original)
Crying
Encore
Lilac Wine (the best I have heard Damien sing it)
Pretty Woman
Hallelujah
Damien owned the show and stage today. He was in his element.
It was nice to see a couple of faces that I have seen at other shows too.
If anyone is contemplating going to one of the SOLO shows just do it. You won't be disappointed. I wish I was going to more but I have had a great run and I was lucky to go today and I have my daughter to thank for it, giving me the ticket as an early Mothers Day present. She knows me well
