Smiley, Damien is fantastic live regardless of what he sings but you are right about Chapter Seven. The recorded versions are good but when I heard the songs sung at The Vanguard they were just amazing.
I am taking 5 Damien virgins tomorrow night and the other 2 have seen Damien once and 3 times before.
It will be very interesting to see and hear the reactions of the 5 new ones.

Hi all ~~~~ I am home. I was hoping someone else would have been in to write something. This is the set list: Halfway Heart A Million Reasons Beautiful Lonely Nights Crying I Can Stop You Crying When A Child is Born Nessum Dorma You & I Never Forget Hallelujah Without A Fight Leah Faith In Me Pretty Woman Damien sounded fantastic but I must say this was the worst concert I have been to as far as audience vibe goes. It was a mixture of ages and they were all enjoying it, but they seemed 'flat'. Damien was his funny self and he performed all songs so well. I was so happy that he said Happy Birthday to Princey and played You and I for her because he remembered that she had requested it previously. Nessun Dormer was a request. Trouble is, it came from Eric when the audience had asked for different songs. Running Scared was in contention. Damien hit the high notes and the big bold notes perfectly in ND. Faith In Me was a request by me and it wasn't going to be played but Damien added it. Thank you Damien Halleluja was requested by quite a few in the audience. Leah also was a request. It was so nice to hear Damien singing 'When A Child Is Born'. Of course he recorded it with Tommy Emanuel and he pretended Eric was T I tonight. Lonely Nights is a great song. Damien had a lovely cream jacket on tonight but it came off after about song 2 or 3. There was a body hugging white TShirt under the jacket and dark charcoal/black jeans. The people that came with me really enjoyed the concert and commented on his lovely voice. Another of them when asked at work what she was doing on the weekend mentioned she was coming to this concert. Most of the people didn't know who she was talking about except one so they spent a while watching youtube videos of Damien. Now she will be able to tell them what she thought of it. The venue was very, very slow with our meals. We ordered 7 of the same dish which was a mini roast and 1 (on special) salad. It took 55 minutes to get it (after I queried how much longer the meals would be and that we were going to the concert) and by the time the food came Andy was about to start. We woofed the food down and when we went to the showroom Andy was already on. I don't know how much of his act we missed. Hopefully not too much. There seemed to be a few CD's sold. When I finally got there there was only one Chapter Seven left and I think my friend bought that. The books were selling really well too. I probably won't get a chance to come online tomorrow so maybe someone else will add to this. It was lovely seeing Michele, Kazza and her daughter, Shims and b/f and of course Princey on her birthday and G.

A really lovely way the Club tell you your table is by having big placecards with the name of the person who has booked the tickets.
I would love Kazza to take a photo of hers (I have trouble uploading photos) if she doesn't mind so you can all see it.

Thanks so much Braffy for the report. Great set list. Pity about the audience, they don't know when they are on to a good thing eh? A bit like Launnie, although they must love him as they always fill the venue! Great that you and Princey had your requests played, She must have been excited to have her birthday mentioned Have to admit Nessun Dorma blew me away when we heard it at Thornbury.. have never heard him in such good voice! My DD was astounded that he could sing like that as she has never heard him sing it, and put on her FB page that he gave her goosebumps! I'm sure all the ladies had a great night. Look forward to hearing more.

Thanks for the report Braffy. I know what you mean about the audience. When you get a good one (like Redcliffe) it just makes such a huge difference.
I really hope Damien doesn't succumb to substituting more covers to try to wake them up. Chapter Seven is amazing live and he needs to sing it loud and proud.

Couldn't agree more with the sentence I bolded. Smiley. Besides, some audiences enjoy the music but are either quiet or restless. Much depends on their manners, I've found . Some people are simply rude when an artist is performing for them . Ha! It seems because Eric has learned ND Damien is singing it again! LOL! Crying makes perfect sense, (the Joe Melson connection), so does Pretty Woman and Hallelujah ( always requested). ND is awesome, but it surely is the least relevant to the Damien of today ? So pleased Princey had her Happy Birthday! Damien, sing Faith In Me with conviction. That'll make them sit up and take notice!!
