Multi-platinum singer / songwriter Damien Leith will take his forthcoming album Chapter Seven on the road with a national Australian Tour beginning in Perth on Thursday 31st October. The show will be an intimate acoustic setting and will feature all his new songs as well as some of the songs he’s well-known for. Audiences will be treated to beautifully crafted songs, some he even wrote with legendary Joe Melson who wrote Roy Orbison’s Crying and Only the Lonely.
“I’m really looking forward to taking these songs on the road and getting out to places I haven’t been to in a while,” said Damien.
Chapter Seven is Damien’s seventh album since 2006. The acoustic pop and folk release represents an exciting new direction for the Irish-born Australian. Two years in the making, the album will be Damien’s first as a producer and first with independent Sydney-based label Social Family Records. Damien penned 12 new original tracks for the album, which he recorded in Sydney in a studio he built himself.
Famed producer and sound engineer David Nicholas – who has worked with luminaries from Elton John to INXS – mixed Chapter Seven and co-produced some of the tracks. Other great hit makers such as Gary Clark (Natalie Imbruglia, The Wanted, The Veronicas) and Jon Vella (Meatloaf, Ricky Martin) have added their touch to the album along with legendary Nashville-based songwriter Joe Melson. Famed for penning a string of rhythm and blues hits with the one and only Roy Orbison, including Only The Lonely and Crying, Joe Melson has been writing with Damien for some time now and Joe has become a close friend and mentor to Damien.

As I've said elsewhere, so looking forward to this one! This is an intimate, red plush curtain venue. And listen up, Melburnians - it's your only chance to catch D in concert this year!! We s have booked (of course!) but other D fans had better get in quickly. It's not a huge place, but it will be perfect for D's new music accompanied by Eric.

Kath has already posted on Facebook that this concert was fantastic. I hope we get reports from someone early tomorrow if not before. Astro, Starsis, Nicki, Trilly, Princey, Krissy, Di, Glawzy. Not sure if Anny is going. A big presence of DLO'ers at this concert.

Any was there, Braff as a lovely surprise from her son. So was Eils, which was lovely because it's her birthday. Damien is such a romantic, gawdluvim and YEEEHAAA! It certainly was a brilliant gig!! This is just a quickie, have an aearly start in the morning, but the audience LUUURRRRVED it! The new music went down brilliantly as did D's classics - and yep, even I have to (grudgingly) admit,he still belts the hell outta Nessun Dorma!

Yep, it was another brilliant night with lot's of Damienite representation go Tarts, I love you all. Andy came on stage and told everyone he was Damien Leith, haha he was very impressed with our singing last night, you could see him beaming with our parts of his songs. Damien got a resounding applause when he came on stage, I haven't got a set list and I'm not sure if anyone took one, I think he started the show with Halfway Heart, Eils was there too, we all sang Happy Birthday to her and Damien sang Beautiful for her. Damien asked for a couple of requests, he sang Nessun Dorma and then did Creep because a few asked for it he was in such a good mood.the whole night was just brilliant. We got to have a chat at the end of the show, I had a few friends there and Greg came too, they all loved the show, I had to laugh, Eric god love him is a bit confused as to where I live he thought I came from Sydney cos he saw me there a couple of weeks ago, yep I seem to get around, he'll be even more confused next week when I turn up at Dural and Nowra with Greg

It sounds like an incredible show! Heheh Sue that's so funny! You would confuse Eric as you do pop up everywhere! Awwww isn't that so beautiful singing to his gorgeous Eil's . I think that's why we all just Lurve him, he is truly just such a nice guy. Well hope Eil's had a wonderful birthday! So glad you all had a great time! Look forward to hearing more on the show later!

Me again. Yes Braff, as Princey (the Sydneysider haha!) said, so pleased he did most of Chapter Seven, except Faith In Me, You and I and Time To Go. The vibe of the evening was very upbeat (even with Andy's kinda sad lyrics, which I love btw) so hearing Last Sad Song and The Lonely Nights live was awesome!! Damien said afterwards he really enjoyed the show too, and likes the venue. Lots of laughter on stage, though a few "tekanickel" issues with "the band out the back", which only produced more laughter! Eric was going to have to pay his dance penalty but wouldn't co-operate! I wonder if D docked his pay? I always look forward to the extras D throws in. The "Always Take The Weather" snippet was fabulous, although, as usual I wished he'd sung the whole song, cos D and Neil Finn is a wonderful combo! Lots of other bits and pieces added too, like a bit of Tutti Fruitti. Woohoo! Yeah D, belop bop a looba belop bam boom!
Loved how appreciative this audience was of D's new originals. Have to say both the preview audience as well as this one in Melbs did us proud with their rapt attention and standing ovations at the end of the show, plus enthusiastic applause throughout. And singing! Lots of singing! Always get a kick out of it when the audience is up for a singalong! There's a lot of DLuurrve in this city. The signing line did great business too, including Andy's CDs.He seemed pretty popular as well. Have to say that edgy voice is a surprise coming from such a boyish face! Very interesting. I really enjoyed his duet with D on Never Forget. Great night all in all. Can't go with out one teensy weesnsy crit of the venue. The two course meal was only average. Entrees were OK, but the chicken and steak (alternating..felt like I was at a wedding!) were both overcooked. Who serves steak these days without cooking to order, either?)

Thanks a lot ladies. I know what you mean about the standard of food at the venues, especially when you are paying for the show and meal in the one price.
I was very disappointed with our 2 course meal (actually it might only have been 1 course) but the ticket was $110 for a lunch show. The food was nice but too expensive.
The full concerts are sounding so amazing. I'm looking forward to Dural next week.

Hi everyone. Yes, agree with Sue and Trilly - Damien was fantastic and at his very best. I have never heard him sing Nessun Dorma so brilliantly, it was sensational. My DD1 came along too and she had never heard D sing it.... she was sitting fanning her face with her hand and saying OMG! OMG! OMG! (I think that means she liked it) and she's not into classics at all. Interesting to hear her comment on the show generally too... she downloaded Chapter Seven, but said she really enjoyed seeing/hearing Damien do the songs live, and that she was sure when she listened to the album it would take on a new perspective. My sister came too, loves Damien but is a Damien show virgin. She doesn't say much for reasons I won't go into here, but I know she just loves him and enjoyed the show.
Nicki did a set list and will probably post it tomorrow when she returns home. It was great to hear most of the new songs, but the additions were all great too. After singing Creep, Damien said he was glad he wore the tight pants!! He can be such a dag.
Meet and greet for everybody which was lovely and plenty of time for pics in spite of the fact that it was Eils birthday and they probably had other plans to kick on celebrating.
Sorry I missed saying goodbye Trills, but DD wanted to catch a cab into the city, and as we were leaving you were talking to Damien. I didn't want her standing around in the street by herself.
All in all, pretty much in teh coma and hope I will be, as need the memories to tide me over until the next show, whenever that will be!
