Yes and Ditto Brian, we all need to ring up. Yes I totally agree, Damien has a unique talent of actually creating a tear in someone's eye! We have all heard it!
We all need to ring those radio stations ASAP.

No I didn't see that about Beyoncé plugger, but if someone as well known as her can see the problem with technology and what it's doing to the quality of the songs being played on the radio, and elsewhere
then something should be done about it.

Here in Perth, I think Mix 94.5 is the station most suited to Damien's music. I have exchanged several emails over the last couple of years with the music director ( I think that was his title) and he also said he thought Damien was a great guy and a great singer but his music doesn't rate!! I think that this was taken from a survey several years ago. Now at that time I joined their online music panel and then starting asking questions. If Damien releases a single , wouldn't you play it several times and see what response you get from listeners? If anyone has ever participated in an online music panel, you are given their set list of songs to "vote " on. Thy end of our emails went something like this - They do not have Damien as a part of their playlist, therefore it will never get played , or listened to, so no one will request it and if a random fan like me keeps requesting it I am completely wasting my time because Damien Leith does not exist in their CD collection! If he couldn't get played on commercial radio with Sony, what hope does he have now? Even my 9 yr old asked me recently why Damien songs are never on the radio!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately that is the sort of problem I have encountered too Deb.

MIX (in Sydney) play Damien on the Love God show late at night. They play Beautiful and sometimes you will hear Not For the Weekend.

MIX is changing to KiiS next year so I don't know how that will affect their programming. Kyle and Jacki O are moving to that station.

Yes Deb, great post informative........hear you! Frustrating! I think you know all of this too Braff ! How do you change it? No one is ever going to get a go are they, unless they are out there, and just fighting with fury like Beyoncé ! I am not giving up "Without a fight"! None of us can .

A song only gets played on the radio a couple of times before it gets put on the radio polls, and out of all the millions of people in Australia only a very small amount of people do those radio polls

one station I know has about 200 people doing their poll. And the members of some Fan Forums have more than one Email address so that they can vote for their singer on the polls lots of times. So it's
really a lot less people doing the polls than the radio stations think. And if these people don't like a singer they can hate that singers song, without even caring what the song is like, so the song gets removed from the play list and next time that singer has a song the radio stations are reluctant to play it.
That's why you get a lot of songs on the radio that are not very good and a lot off good songs that don't get played.

All too true Zeeta. It's not fair though. Sometimes I hear songs and wonder how they can get airplay when a fabulous song of Damien's gets nothing.

I remember Kyle Sandilands saying something once when he was asked about playing Damien's music he said that they play James Blunt and that was it.

Very, very frustrating!!!!! I guess after putting my post in, it has been a learning curb to see what many of you others have done to get airplay. You have all given it your very best. I think Dawns post, in Members Lounge made me realise how many hours she had put in to trying.

When I return from Hol's I am going to contact the the radio station, and offer a donation to their charity, local fund raising for kids ward at our local hospital.........if they play D for me! It's ongoing fund raising locally. Will see! I won't hold my breath, give it a shot!

If you continue to vote online with the radio stations you are fighting a losing battle, I've messaged and emailed several radio stations several times, the replies are all computer generated, I even emailed a couple of the station managers and was told a similar thing to Deb, its really not fair that a person who has as much talent as Damien does gets no where, maybe one of his songs needs to be picked up by an advertising agency or something so that it can be heard while it is promoting a product

From all that has been said, you can understand why when I hear the words "Damien's new single" I unfortunately scoff and mutter under my breath. Wtf does that even mean? I see no point what so ever in releasing a single from his albums. Sounds negative I know. I guess it is a song that is available on ITunes prior to the release of an album. But we are the only ones that will know and care.

That's why everyone should just ring up the radio stations, not worry about things like HOT 30 Countdown or any voting online. If a radio station cancels it's daytime request show because they are getting
overwhelmed with people requesting songs not on their playlist you would think they would wonder why.
Damien has an exceptional voice and he deserves to be heard, he has thousands of fans out there who don't even know he has singles, albums or concerts.

Zeeta you are right........so many fans out there that have no idea Damien has a new album....a new single............. I guess the work promotion we did made me realise too......but as whacky as it might have seemed......it did bring attention to some old fans who have rekindled their "Music Appreciation"..,.,..the appreciation was still there.

I hear you too Princey (and Deb) I know you have also put in hours to try and get air play (Deb you as well!). I think Yes to big company ...........or Advertising Company.

You would have thought "Beautiful" would have managed to do that...................

Does anyone know someone "Powerful" on a radio station, What did Paul Keating say in a recent interview .....about his success and climb in Politics ......"Plug into Power"!

I share the frustration of all of you. Unfortunately don't know the answer. I rang and emailed only 3x radio stations, (the ones I thought might actually play Damien's music) but no go, all nice and helpful on the phone but no response to the emails. (and no airplay as far as I know.

The only thing I can suggest is lobby the shopping centres who play music all the time, airlines even (have heard RJ on Jetstar more than once) - muzak type companies, etc.

I'm convinced the whole bloody radio industry is corrupt, it's all about money and who will pay them the most to play the music. I'm getting more cynical the older I get, unfortunately.

I did suggest to Jen to get Damien to get his fans to all jump on board and "bombard" the radio stations. I know it is not that easy, and I don't know the insides of the music Industry. Just imagine if Damien ran a competition........got his fans on board doing it.......then free tickets or a meet and greet, or BBQ for 5 friends on the decking at Huon....... I know......in your dreams Plugger........sigh............."Plug into Power, numbers are powerful if people are not"!
