I did suggest to Jen to get Damien to get his fans to all jump on board and "bombard" the radio stations. I know it is not that easy, and I don't know the insides of the music Industry. Just imagine if Damien ran a competition........got his fans on board doing it.......then free tickets or a meet and greet, or BBQ for 5 friends on the decking at Huon....... I know......in your dreams Plugger........sigh............."Plug into Power, numbers are powerful if people are not"! Always worth trying it Plugger. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL DAMIENITES!Hope it's one full of good health, good luck and happiness for all. And huge album sales for Damien, lots of publicity, lots of earnings for him.

I get what you are saying about the music industry being corrupt Glawz, but I am sure they call it marketing! You know how in the supermarket the big brand names pay a lot of money to have their products at eye level. And if you want to find the little known brand you will literally have to hunt high and low!!! Well, to put it into music context let's call Kraft, SONY! Let's say their favourite aussie made product that they sell/promote the most is crunchy peanut butter, (let's call it GUY SEBASTIAN). They put it at eye level, advertise it a lot and everyone knows that it's good. Because it sells well they keep paying out to promote it and it keeps selling. Then there is their healthier, no added salt or sugar peanut butter (let's call it Damien Leith). It's much better for you, but they don't advertise it and it is up on the top shelf, where not many people see it. Mostly people only find out just how good it is by word of mouth, or by searching around the shelves for an alternative product. Kraft realise they need to have more than one choice on the shelf, but are happy for the top shelf products to just sell along slowly to a small niche market as long as that product is breaking even at the end of the day! Are you following me so far? LOL So imagine when a little company (let's call it SFR) comes knocking on the door at Coles & Wwths, saying that they have a new brand of 100% perfect organic peanut butter. They beg for some shelf space in the big supermarkets and have next to no advertising budget, but they know they have an awesome product. The big shots say, you can have 6" of space on the bottom shelf for 6 mths, if it doesn't sell then your out! What hope do they have? If Kraft can only sell small amounts of their healthier product then how can the little SFR company expect to sell their healthy brand? Still with me? So if Sony wouldn't pay to get Damien on the radio then how will SFR ever achieve this!?

That is an EXCELLENT summation Deb. Well done This is a Chapter Seven thread and I just want to say how much I love it. I don't know that there are too many albums made where every song on it can stand on it's own but on CHAPTER SEVEN all of them can. It is a brilliant album and more people should know about it or give it a listen at least before ignoring it. I am also disappointed by all the free illegal downloads that I keep getting emails about with the offer to download it.

You just made my day debangle, if Damien had radio play and the TV that others have, or maybe a judge on a music talent show, so every time he had an album and concerts thousands of people would know about it, all his albums would be No1, and his concerts would be even bigger than they were for his Roy concerts.

One more thing on the Peanut butter discussion...
Like anything, the original is often the most popular because it was 'first'. Some people don't take to other kinds even if it is better, simply because it is not the original..
