It's taken me a while to post about the new album but only because I've been too busy enjoying it! From when I first heard Damien sing on Idol I knew his voice was something special, but with every album it just seems to get more and more beautiful. He often sings in that soaring high tenor register that just makes you melt, but there are a few deeper tones on here that perfectly show off his amazing range.
My favourites so far are 'The Parting Glass'- just such an enjoyable song and 'Song For Ireland' with it's beautiful imagery and of course, Damien's exquisite vocals. 'Danny Boy' has me in tears nearly every time, especially when the pipes come in. The tin whistle moments on this album are just beautiful and it all blends together to give you the perfect picture of Ireland.
I read one review somewhere that warned that this album will make you want to go to Ireland and all I can say is it's lucky I am going there this year because the album has certainely had that effect on me!
I can't wait for the 'Parting Glass' show in Newcastle- apparently we are right next to the stage! Hearing these songs live will no doubt add yet another dimension to the experience. I will definitely Remember June this year! Woo!

Yes it is Zeeta, shows off D's voice at it's best I think. Love those high notes and he puts such soul into it, especially the last verse
You are going to love The Parting Glass Catchy, it shows you what a fully rounded talent Damien has, writing, producing, acting and performing in his own show, he should be very proud of himself. I guess you've answered the question I asked in The Hut, about Nelsons Bay, guess it was a concert.

I absolutely love that song, I wonder if he will have any more videos of other songs on the album, "Chapter Seven" had about 4 I think.

Agree... it's very clever indeed. Would have been nice to see D in there somewhere though.

I saw this yesterday and I love it! It's making me even more excited about our trip to Ireland in a few months, there looks like there will be some lovely scenery there!
I'm hoping Damien will give us an Irish jig or two during The Parting Glass, Galway Girl is the perfect song to do it to!
I have been listening to this album nearly every night since it came out and I'm taking it with me (at least in my phone) when my sister and I go on our trip. IT will be a long flight and I'll need lots of good music!

Lucky you Julie, it should be a wonderful holiday. I saw a doco on TV the other night and it does look gorgeous. I hope to get there one day but maybe it will never happen. Damien did an Irish jig at Koroit last weekend, but don't hold your breath for him doing it on The Parting Glass, as it is partly a play and scripted, the dance may not fit in. He didn't do a jig when I saw it the first time, but never mind, he often does them on regular concerts so you will see one sometime.
Yes, it's a great album, I love it too, so does my DH which is surprising as he usually baulks at anything Damien!!! Don't forget to report back in the forum with your thoughts and impressions of the show, without giving away too much to those who haven't seen it already.

Damien did a jig at one or more of his gigs I've been to and they were awesome I'll definitely do a review of The Parting Glass once I've seen it, and yes, no plot spoilers! And if I'm lucky enough to meet Damien again, I'll try to get some pictures up.

Catchy how exciting a trip to Ireland. Seeing the parting glass will almost be a wonderful start to your trip and experience. As Glawzy said Damien us so generous with his time to all....you will have to ask him what you should see whilst over there....and I am sure he will tell tou too...the gentleman he is. Please share some pics when youu get some, would also be very interested in pics of Ireland too. Look forward to your report on the parting glass ...I know you will enjoy it too.

Mothers' Day sales have obviously helped Brian... fantastic news. Like all of D's albums it deserves recognition. Does anyone know of anybody who attended the Mothers' Day thing at David Jones where Damien was starring?
