Damien has several shows lined up until the end of 2017. Some of them will be ROY Shows, others will be THE PARTING GLASS, there is a one off ELVIS Gospel Tribute Show on the 40th Anniversary of Elvis' death plus a Christmas Celtic Show.

ROY SHOW

After a sold-out run of ROY – A Tribute To Roy Orbison to metropolitan centres in 2016, revered singer-songwriter Damien Leith is gearing up to revisit the music of his idol in 2017 for a special The Hall of Fame Tour.

The tour commemorates 30 years since Roy Orbison was inducted into the Rock n Roll and Songwriters’ Hall of Fame. Damien says he will be performing songs such as In Dreams, Crying to Running Scared, Oh Pretty Woman and Blue Angel, to name a few. The show is jam-packed with as many Roy songs that can be fitted into the set list.

“This show is a favourite of mine because, I get to stand on stage and celebrate Roy’s incredible career,” says Damien. “I don’t try to impersonate him or sound like him, its really a case of me saluting one of the all-time greatest singers. Roy’s songs are raw and real and melded together with that distinct melancholy intensity of his voice. He created a unique way of writing and delivering a song, and it’s for that reason that to this day, he continues to find new fans all over the world.”

Damien has always had a strong affinity with Roy’s music. He recorded and worked with the late Barbara Orbison and continues to write with legendary musicians in Nashville who worked with Roy throughout his career. In fact, when Damien released his album Roy – A Tribute to Roy Orbison it stayed in the ARIA Top 20 chart for 22 weeks and it was nominated for not only an ARIA award, but also sold multi-platinum.

THE PARTING GLASS

After wowing audiences and critics in 2015 with his cabaret show “The Parting Glass - An Irish Journey”, Damien Leith is proud to revisit the show in 2017.

The show which incorporates both a play and a musical concert of classic Irish songs is set in an Irish pub and see’s Damien take on the character role of an Irish father as he chats with the audience about his son Daniel who lives in Australia.

40 Years On Anniversary Concert

August 16, 2017 marks the 40th anniversary of the passing of undoubtedly, one of the world’s greatest singers, Elvis Presley. At the tender age of only 42, Elvis passed away leaving behind him a legacy that continues to grow, entertain and inspire for generations to come. One of his great admirers and fans, Damien Leith, will remember the spirit of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll with one very special concert, performing his gospel collection.

The venue was fairly small.
The band came out with a replacement drummer and a guitarist (as Damien couldn't play with his broken shoulder) He did manage quite a lot of piano playing. We did have Eric, Jess and Cesar. Damien was dressed in all black apart from his dark blue jacket. Damien and co were all in excellent voice.

It was lovely to catch up with Eric and Jess and Jess's mum. We also had a chance to give Damien a hug (but on the right side)

Damien, as usual, was still very generous with himself and his time even though he was in pain.
It was lovely to catch up with Braffy (thanks for the sleepover Braffy ), Maggiemay (with the gorgeous pictures of her grandson ) and 2 of Braffy's friends and another lady.

Friday 23.6.17 at The Trumpet Bar, Cowes (Phillip Island) Vic.

This was an extremely intimate performance, just Damien and Eric on a very small stage in a very small bar. 65 people in attendance and it was a full house. Dinner and Show. We had a great table right in the front but actually, one benefit of this venue because of it's small size was that everybody had a good seat and good view.

Damien was on keyboard because of his broken upper arm but we could tell he was uncomfortable by his posture. After the break he did get out the guitar sans strap and played two songs without Eric. As always he put on a stellar performance under difficult circumstances by which I mean the ignorant small portion of the audience who were drinking too much and having a very raucous conversation from almost beginning to end of the show, in spite of being 'shooshed' by all and sundry. Memories of that crowd at the Brass Monkey!!!

Before the show started Damien came over and gave Sue, Di and I a peck on the cheek which made the night even better.

Support act was Nick Whitfield, a half decent singer and guitarist who is actually playing guitar in Damien's video of End of the Line? Damien admitted that his injury was caused by slipping whilst getting out of the pool.

Saturday 24.6.17 at Kyneton Town Hall

This was a ROY SHOW

This was a great venue, beautiful hall and it was just about full, just a few seats up the top level at the back not occupied. Chris posted a photo of the empty stadium on FB if you care to look at his wall. Audience loved it, so appreciative.

It was general admission and when we arrived a lot of people had gone in, we found four seats in the second row, Di, Alli and Pam were already there. The lady on the other side of Alli was prepared to move up one, but unfortunately the seats beside her were 'reserved' which only left four seats for five of us, so me being the 'odd' one I decided to sit on a vacant seat in the row behind next to a nice lady who had never seen Damien live before, or heard him for that matter. She was interested in the Roy songs. Said she had seen several Roy 'impersonators' and none of them were any good. I explained that Damien did not impersonate Roy, just did his songs in his own voice and way and that she would be surprised at how good he is. After the show she was hooked, said he had a magnificent tenor voice and she reckoned he should sing 'Nessun Dorma"! Was a bit surprised when I told her he already does. I reckon a few new fans, hope some of them go to the Elvis show in Melbourne which Damien was plugging thank goodness, and the advertising cards for this show were handed out by one of the hall attendants in the foyer after the show.

I won't do the set list, it was the same as the other Roy shows and in the same order, starting with Blue Angel and Oooby Dooby. After the break at interval Damien came out on his own and sat at the beautiful old grand piano to do

He played the piano in the first half for about three of the songs as it was a little obvious he didn't know what to do with his hands and he admitted that, said his arm was aching and that's why he had his left hand in his pocket. Didn't affect his voice though, in top form, awesome.

I think they sold quite a few CD's after the show, it was great to say hi to Jess, Eric and Chris as well as Damien.

Band was awesome but sometimes drowned Damien out which was a pity.

***My bad... we also had Cesar and Paddy on the drums.

I think it probably was Got My mind Set on You Glawz as that youtube has a couple of different guys playing guitars.. Seems there were quite a few similar songs to the General Concert List. Oh dear fancy doing so much damage getting out of a pool. Poor Damien, not a good slip. It's great that both shows had such a good turnout. I went to the Kingsford show last night. It was awesome!

Good to see Damien back playing guitar again. His shoulder was still sore though, so he didn't play guitar for the whole show, but that was actually one of the things I liked about the show, because he did all these entertaining dance moves when he wasn't playing guitar. It had been nearly a year since I last saw him, and we chatted a bit after the show, so that was nice.

Was anyone else there last night? I didn't see anyone I recognised from the forum, but the parents of one of my friends who has come to at least one of Damien's previous shows with me were there. Apparently they had (unintentionally) seen Damien perform once before at some function they went to, but this was their first proper Damien show. They said they enjoyed it and that Damien sounded as good as or maybe even better than Roy. My friend couldn't make it last night, but I was talking to her parents during the interval, and apparently they had no idea that their daughter had seen Damien live before and had also met him and had her photo taken with him, until I mentioned it.

Yeah, it wasn't a fun drive to and from the show. Had at least three near-death experiences while driving. I only decided a few days ago to buy a ticket, and managed to end up sitting in the front row. Pretty good for $40!

Yes, Damien mentioned playing at the Club last week. Apparently he sung the anthem and messed up some words.
