ROY SHOW
After a sold-out run of ROY – A Tribute To Roy Orbison to metropolitan centres in 2016, revered singer-songwriter Damien Leith is gearing up to revisit the music of his idol in 2017 for a special The Hall of Fame Tour.
The tour commemorates 30 years since Roy Orbison was inducted into the Rock n Roll and Songwriters’ Hall of Fame. Damien says he will be performing songs such as In Dreams, Crying to Running Scared, Oh Pretty Woman and Blue Angel, to name a few. The show is jam-packed with as many Roy songs that can be fitted into the set list.
“This show is a favourite of mine because, I get to stand on stage and celebrate Roy’s incredible career,” says Damien. “I don’t try to impersonate him or sound like him, its really a case of me saluting one of the all-time greatest singers. Roy’s songs are raw and real and melded together with that distinct melancholy intensity of his voice. He created a unique way of writing and delivering a song, and it’s for that reason that to this day, he continues to find new fans all over the world.”
Damien has always had a strong affinity with Roy’s music. He recorded and worked with the late Barbara Orbison and continues to write with legendary musicians in Nashville who worked with Roy throughout his career. In fact, when Damien released his album Roy – A Tribute to Roy Orbison it stayed in the ARIA Top 20 chart for 22 weeks and it was nominated for not only an ARIA award, but also sold multi-platinum.
Suitable for all ages.
THE PARTING GLASS
After wowing audiences and critics in 2015 with his cabaret show “The Parting Glass - An Irish Journey”, Damien Leith is proud to revisit the show in 2017.
“... a polished and personable performance from an artist who has ridden his luck with great skill and now is deservedly rolling in four-leaf clover.” Matt Byrne, Sunday Mail.
“The story adorned the songs and the songs intensified the story”. MELB.FASH.ARTS
The show which incorporates both a play and a musical concert of classic Irish songs is set in an Irish pub and see’s Damien take on the character role of an Irish father as he chats with the audience about his son Daniel who lives in Australia.
“The rousing renditions of traditional Irish songs were a highlight...” Anna Vlach, The Adelaide Advertiser
Filled with great conversation and humour, heartfelt emotion and a repertoire of rousing and touching Irish Songs (Danny Boy, Raglan Road, Toss the Feathers, Molly Malone, Galway Bay, Carrickfergus, Rocky Road to Dublin…), The Parting Glass is a show like none other. It showcases Damien as not only an exceptional musician and singer, but as a talented and engaging actor.
“An entertaining Irish-flavoured experience courtesy of a talented performer” Jamie Wright, Theatre Guide Australia
“His show is like the stars finally align. Deep down we have all wanted to see Damien perform Irish music for a long time. He acts, tells the best stories, and charms his way into our hearts with this show. Do Not miss it” David Campbell
Everyone who experienced this amazing show in 2015 was taken on a journey, through words and songs, invited into the snug of an Irish pub with an endearing character – they laughed, the cried, they sang along and some even danced, and above all else, they were entertained.
"I am thrilled that my show "The Parting Glass" will tour in 2017. I've added some great new Irish classics and can't wait to act and sing again in this very special production". Damien Leith
