Good one Spud, glad you enjoyed it and why wouldn't you? Glad it's not only we tarts who think he's better than Roy, I certainly do on some songs rather than others though.

he he that's unlike Damien Spud. Great you were able to get to the show and your friend's parents were also there I find Sydney difficult to navigate, but glad you got there okay. Good to hear that D's shoulder is improving too.

TRIBUTE TO ELVIS, GOSPEL SONGS. MELBOURNE ART CENTRE PLAYHOUSE 16TH AUGUST, 2017 This is a fabulous venue, seating 900 and it was a sell out! YAY!!! Damien was pretty pleased. Damien came out in black pants, black shirt, and a gorgeous red velvet jacket with black trim, looked very swish! Eils and the kids were there, as were their friend Kathleen and her family, didn't see her DH though. Had a chat to Eileen, and Jagger. Gosh he's a great kid, said I knew him but he didn't know me, but asked about school, and he was so polite and spoke very well indeed, not shy, said he was looking forward to high school next year. Eils her gorgeous normal self. Damien referred to his kids in the audience throughout the show, they were sitting right behind Nicki who came down for the show, and was accompanied by her DIL. Our group was ten, Sue and Greg, Sue's mum, Sue's aunt and unce (the ones I stayed with for the Kyneton show), two of Sue's work friends, Trilly, Jackie and I. Di and Alli were there also but came by themselves, were sitting right behind me.
Damien had a limited edition album available during the break, just three Elvis Gospel songs on it. Naturally I rushed out to get one at interval and there was a queue and only one person serving, other merchandise as well. Most people hadn't decided what to buy until they got up the counter which held everything up and I was worried that I wouldn't get back for the start of the show but it moved along ok and got back in time. There were only 150 of these available and are numbered. I got No. 146. I don't think they were in any order as Trilly was after me and she got 104.
There were three gorgeous female backing singers dressed in white, two male backing singers dressed in black, the guy with the bass voice was amazing, he made a huge difference to the overall sound. The band consisted of Eric, Jess, (also in a gorgeous white dress) Cesar, Steve, Chris, Pat, and three brass instruments, trombone, trumpet and different trumpet (I think) Chris was on the piano and Pat was on electronic keys, nice sound. Eric got to do a couple of little solos in about three of the songs and he was very popular. It sounded magnificent. The other men were in suits with white shirts and ties too, including Eric, Chris and the Marin boys.
Damien did not play guitar, said his arm wasn't mended properly yet. Plenty of jumping and dance moves to compensate though. His patter wasn't quite so funny as during the Roy shows, but it was a reverent occasion so can understand. Just enough little quips to endear himself to the audience, he was his usual charming self.
Good news..... the show was video'd!!! Assume it will be another 'Parting Glass" availability, hope so. No meet and greet unfortunately, apparently the venue is fussy about clearing out asap.
Set List. I apologise, as there were some songs I did not know and did not know the titles, so from the lyrics I chose the words that I thought could be the song title, marked **
How Great Thou Art Rock my Soul (upbeat, great) Crying in the Chapel Swing low sweet Chariot You'll never Walk alone Where could I go but to the Lord ** Clean up your own backyard ** Peace in the Valley Can't help Falling in Love Bridge over Trouble Waters - perfect one to end the break, gorgeous.
INTERVAL
Damien came out Solo on the piano and was joined by Gavin Chatelier (beautiful voice, and great harmonies with Damien on Stand by Me Hallelujah (solo on piano) beautiful
Band returns....
So high, can't get over it One of these days ** If the Lord wasn't walking by my side** Amazing Grace, sounded great with all the backing singers I Believe Put your hand in the hand
Then a little rocky medley - Don't be Cruel Hound Dog Jailhouse Rock Suspicious Minds Damien left stage but band remained.
I think I've missed a song here, (sorry) there was one more, and the finale blew us all away
AMERICAN TRILOGY, OMG, THIS WAS AWESOME, GOOSEBUMP TIME.
Almost all the 900 audience gave a standing ovation and it was great to see all the band and singers arm in arm across the stage at the end, doing the usual little 'kick' dance! I reckon Damien was pumped at the reaction. Wouldn't be at all surprised if he didn't do at east a show in each capital city, but only surmising this as the night was an incredible success. Damien of course, was the instigator, producer and arranger of the whole show I believe, credit to him, and another huge peacock feather in his cap for this one.JUST REMEMBER.....YOU NEED TO HAVE RAIN TO GET THE RAINBOW

Thank you Gloria for your brilliant report. What a fantastic, amazing night you witnessed.
I'm so looking forward to the possibility of a DVD being released. I hope it is kept as the live
Congratulations on the guessing of the names of the unknown songs.
You are correct with 3 of them and almost spot ion with the other one.
Here are their names:
Where Could I Go But To the Lord Clean Up Your Own Backyard Did You Ever Have One Of These Days? If the Lord Wasn't Walking By My Side.
What an amazing set list. Unbelievable.
Good to read about the standing ovation too. I'm sure Damien was pleased as punch with how it all turned out. Chris Alford had a lot to do with the show doing a lot of the musical arrangements and vocal arrangements.
Was it Jagger or Jarvis you were talking to? Jarvis is starting High School next year and has grown up so much.
I don't know what the American Trilogy is.

American Trilogy is (and I'm not sure of the actual titles but you'll know what I mean)
I wish I was in the land of Cotton, (Look away Dixieland) All my Trials Lord Glory Glory Hallelujah
Awesome to the 100th degree!!!
If you google Elvis American Trilogy you can hear him do the songs, apparently he ended many of his shows with it.

THE PARTING GLASS
ALBURY ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE , Friday, 6th October, 2017
This was great to see the slightly upgraded version of this great show. It started off straight into the Irish music - Star of the County Down, then the intro into placing the audience in an Irish pub and about the old man speaking to the audience. This time just Damien, Eric, Jess and Cesar, I missed Chris and his fab background vocals but that was because I'd seen the show with him in it, I don't think first timers would have been worried. Damien's acting skills have been honed beautifully IMO and the transition from father to son was distinctive and very well done. I LOVE just listening to that Irish accent. Unfortunately I didn't take writing implement or paper so I don't have the set list in the right order, I think it was a little different to previous shows but with the new songs added it's really hard to say. I asked D after the show if he had a spare set list but he said they'd left them on the stage and by then the theatre was all closed up. There seemed to be less dialogue and more music this time, whether that was because they just was more music or whether D had subtly removed some dialogue I really can't say
Rocky road to Dublin Black Velvet Band Then the old man... not too many changes in script, just a subtle one here and there although the band is now 'feckin' shite' not just 'shite'! Winging the set list here - in no particular order... Raglan Road Red is the Rose Carrickfergus You Raise me up (awesome) Toss the feathers
Interval
After interval there was a new JIG, can't remember what it was called but Damien said it was written by The Black Velvet Band, it was mostly instrumental with a few words in the middle. Molly Malone Black is the colour (with Jess) Seven drunken nights (D said he was asked not to sing nights 6&7 as they were too rude but urged the audience to look up the song on YouTube! The Auld Triangle Danny boy The Parting Glass Encore ... Hallelujah.
My DD mentioned at interval that You Raise me up and Danny boy are almost identical melody! When you think about it they are!!! Has anybody ever noticed that before. I mentioned it to D after the show and he said yes, they were very similar.

Sounds like a great night, thank you Glawz. You know me, I try to avoid thinking about Danny Boy so would not have done a comparison... aaahh a shame about the set list, never mind, will check it out in November

Yep, Danny Boy and You Raise Me Up are both based on the same tune, called Londonderry Air.
I hope D adds Bright Blue Rose (with Jess) to the set list.
Glawz, do you know whether Chris will be part of the rest of the tour at all?

I think it may depend on bums on seats Spud, although Chris is or has been overseas on holiday. I missed his harmonies but anybody who hadn’t seen it before wouldn’t have been any the wiser. The Albury show was not sold out, but had been sold out in the smaller hall and they moved it to,the larger venue.

Thanks Dawn. The new songs that had been added to the show were good to hear. I especially loved You Raise Me Up and the story that went with it. Seven Drunken Nights as Dawn mentioned we only heard about 5 of the nights. You can imagine that by the 6th and 7th night that quite a bit of alcohol had been consumed and Damien told the audience if they wanted to know about the last two verses then to look it up online Th slight change in the storyline gave way for a different joke or two. I was looking around for Spud and commented to Dawn how the lady on the next table beside me looks like Spud but at no time did I think it WAS. I was surprised to find out that it definitely was but by that time I didn’t have a chance to say hello, so Spud, if you look in here - hello from me and I’m sorry that I didn’t get to chat to you. I think your hair being longer threw me. Damien will be in Tasmania next weekend. The Hobart show has been sold out for a long time and I think Launceston wouldn’t be far behind,
