i have been thinking bout that all day! How can you promote Jade Macray (no disrespect) and not Damien. He's the friggin Australian Idol!

I've been thinking about why Damien isn't in their ads, and I think it is because he had said he was originally booked to go to Ireland today. So they probably didn't think he could do the Carols and made the ad without him in it - however they could have put big letters at the bottom or something to say "Last minute announcement - your Australian Idol Damien Leith will be appearing!!!" lol - I am totally guessing all this, but there's my logic for you to ponder.  I remember years ago walking through the Domain and stumbling onto the dress rehearsal. It's terrible weather in Sydney tonight, lots of rain, so I hope it will dry out a bit for tomorrow. |

 Are we ready?   The various acts all had there turn and I was loving every minute of it. I didn't worry about the rain. I had taken a large garbage bag to sit on, I had a poncho (stil in my bag) and an umbrella (small) that I ended up putting up. *in her head she is saying - where is Damien, where is Damien, Damo, Damo* *flushes thinking of the D again* Allo, allo, allo. Someone *yahoo* brings out a microphone and stand to the front catwalk type part of the stage. *am getting extremely hot because this can only mean one thing* and then, and then.....Damien walked out to test where the microphone was etc. *screams were heard far and wide* *my vocal cords Damien, Damien were getting a workout* *waves umbrella* *Yahooing, yippeeing, whoo, hoo ting* *I'm a grandmother for goodness sake!* Yeah Damien. This was only a microphone location check however but who cares. *I saw Damien and you didn't ha-ha*  He was waving   to all the people calling out his name. He seemed genuinely taken by the whole experience. He had a big grin on his face. Someone with a loud voice yelled out Damien, Damien *realizes it was me oh dear* it did the trick he looked at me and waved. I quickly brought out the 2nd copy of Winners journey that I had and waved it up in the air. He saw it and looked pleased *not half as much as me*. I put the DVD to my lips and gave it a good swmack , he then blew me a kiss. I then proceeded to give him two fingers..(Don't be disgusting...not like that  ) to indicate that this was my 2nd copy. He repeated the two finger thing and I nodded yes. He appeared grateful. More to come

  He then left the stage after checking position etc. There were a couple more acts. *Damo, Damo* and then......... Grant was announcing Damien *hot flush again* Unfortunately, Grant and Shelley were not on stage doing the introductions, they were on a little side area and Grants microphone wasn't working at that time so I don't know what he said *of all bl^^dy times to play up* I do know that Night of My Life was mentioned. *screams loudly* *more yahooing, yippeeing* Damien came out. Oh goodnes he looked HAWT. iI love it when he wears an open collared shirt with a jacket and strides of course. It was a beigie, fawny coloured shirt and brown jacket. He approached the microphone *Damien, Damien* and sang Hallelujah. The version from Idol. *swoon, swoon* Everyone was so quiet. He held the audience in the palm of his hand. If there was anyone there who hadn't heard of him or 'just another Idol' tag, I'm sure they have all had a change of attitude. Rip roaring applause *whistles* when he finished. He left the stage *sob, sob*  He was on about 3/4 of the way through. I would assume the order that they did tonight would be the order on the night. The kid things were on early. Wiggles, Raggs, Santa *love Santa* I was still swooning after Damien had sung so I can't remember what was on. They then have the fireworks (which we didn't have *we had to pretend*. At the end, as usual, the whole cast came out for the final song . Damien is on the right hand side of the stage as you look at it. Grant and Shelley are in the middle, then the Young Divas I think and then Damien. Doisregarding the weather, it was fantastic. Tomorrow night will be awesome  I intend going back tomorrow night. I wonder what Damien will think of it. There were heaps of people there tonight (more than 1000) but tomorrow night there will be soooo many plus all the candles. He will be stoked. After it finished people *count me in* were calling out his name. He came down to the side of the stage to talk to some people. He signed a couple of quick autographs for some lucky girls. Had a group photo with a lot of young uns. I heard a strong Irish accent from a mum that was with the girls. He was basically ushered to go backstage again. So he said goodnight to us all. I don't actually recall him saying 'tank you, tank you' None of the other artists had come down to see anyone. There are people who are setting up camp in the Domain. It will be freezing and wet., but hey! they will have good seats. I urge you all to watch, tape whatever, but don't miss out on seeing this. Ps I only have a film camera and I have just started the roll. Finished the last roll off at Blacktown signing. I don't have a scanner, so I won't be posting any photos. Sorry  I hope you like my report. I might copy and paste it into the New Reloaded Hut and Fan thingo thread.

LOVED your report Braffy!!!  So much info!! Thanks for giving us an idea of the timing of seeing Damien, I don't have to panic if I leave home late if he's 3/4 or so through. LOL! How do you *pretend* to see fireworks - look up at the blank sky and go, "Oooooooh"  I'd love to see the whole Domain do that and film it - nutters! NO PICS of the event!!!! Noooooooooooo! Ok Braffy - this is what you must do.... *peer pressure* - to be one of the *cool people*, it's not enought to have a myspace YOU MUST HAVE A DIGITAL CAMERA!!! lol, maybe drop some hints for Christmas |
