Well done - dont know how you managed to concentrate on the writing ------- did anyone throw roses tonight Neither do I, gj..and I nearly didn't..kept dropping the damn pen. but writing is too grand a term for what was actually frantic, blind scribbling. In between crying, clapping like a mad thing and nudging Winter. bwahaha!

Ooooooooooooooooh I go to a concert JUST to hear Danny Boy - soooo wonderful! I hope Damien will do that again! He was doing "Fall at Your Feet" in Sydney with "With or WIthout You" - sometimes he'd mix it in, sometimtes at the front, and on St night he brought it in at the end. Loved it! So was there any backstage passes around tonight? Winter how did you post so quick - were you texting the forum somehow? Or did it finish pretty early.? Fall at your feet was an awesome suprise...really would have liked to have heard the whole song! (it was mixed in the middle of With or Without You) Raced home straight after to start some work...which I'm still doing I had about 2 hours notice that I was going tonight....and I dont think there were any passes tonight, I could be wrong though... obviously there were a few damienites in the audience, though no meetup plans were made (again, not much notice) and gj...I dont think there were any roses thrown....one lady sort of threw herself near the end...walked right up to the stage, D walked over and leant down to take her hand....she took it, and then planted one on the stubble. He had a very big grin on his face, I think maybe a little shocked and embarrassed..and flattered?

Wow, the funny thing is the first night I somehow memorised the set list - and even the 2nd night! But after so many nights out and exciting times, by the Sat show I couldn't remember the list when I got back. ha ha, I'm usually the nerd scribbling the set list at any big concert I go to as well It helps me remember it all later.

You're right dmac - tv in no way can prepare you for Damien's voice in person!!

Mark was quite at ease, explained that he and Damien had done some gigs together prior to idol, and swapped cd's and found they enjoyed each other's music. Then when this tour in the planning,Damien rang him and invited him to be the support act, and he was "blown away" in response.

The With Or Without You singalong began with Damien telling us that the audience of the previous night did a great singalong, but he wanted us to do even better. The response was a resounding success, think evryone must have been singind loudly, so Damien then said we were now the best.At this point the er vocal woman on the upper level R) side facing stage called out "Oh Damien you sure have kissed the blarney stone" - to which he chuckled and said "Yes in fact I have kissed it several times"

I'm such a random sort of thinker, I cant really review this in order, more as the songs some to me....and yes, for the benefit of those not interested or concerned in the tarty aspects of the evening (seriously, he looked amazing ), I'll be sticking to the musical side of thing. Generally speaking though, as special as the 27th was by sitting with Kris, Trilly and Selestial right down front, and being overwhelmed by D being so damned close...I much preferred last nights gig, particularly musically. The sound was fabulous where we were sitting (about 3 tables back, just of center), and the view....well ...it was great to get the big picture of the stage as opposed to just staring at D up close . As there have been no photos, Sydney siders probably wouldnt know that the lighting is different....the star cloth that comes on during Hallelujah starts off with pale blue starts that peter off as they hit the floor, with much purty backlight and smoke in the same colour. Looks amazing.... it finishes at the end with Nessun dorma as a full twinkling cloth of red and purple/ pink stars...not that the audience notice at that point I think for the next tour ( ) I would definitely think about going twice...once up close for the whole immersive experience, and then once back a bit to get some perspective ans the sound as it was intended. I would also go twice as the shows felt so different tonight...not only the different setlists, but just a different feeling. I wasnt going to go tonight, my arm was twisted...so glad I went though, it was a great experience (thanks trilly )..

I think one of my favourite performances over the last few nights has been "High and Dry", and its fulfilled a bit of a fantasy by hearing D sing it in the original style (although I really loved his swing version, and this is coming from a die-hard Radiohead tragic). One aspect I love of the performance is how much the band are into playing it...watching all the boys really get into a number is fabulous to watch...its interesting to note that they all have a similar level of enthusiasm when they play "sky".... ;D Its hard to explain why I love High and Dry so much...I spent many an evening debating "best" RH songs versus "favourite" RH songs over on the AI forums with the few other Radiohead tragics there... I know its not technically one of their best (well, when compared to Paranoid Android et all), but this song has just always got me in the heart where it matters. D's version did not let me down Now of course, if I can digress into Radiohead tragic for a moment longer here, there is one more song (well, theres 5, but lets stick to one) that I would love to see D cover live....and I'd be happy if it were the only cover if he did again...."True Love Waits". If there is a god that loves me, I hope that one day I may see this happen. Perhaps at the next live gig I see I should yell it out as a request...I dont know, it worked for Danny Boy last night! Oh, and one more RH tragic moment...couldnt help but notice as I was singing along a wee lyrical stuff-up..yes, we RH fans are a harsh bunch I'm fairly sure he was momentarily thrown by a loud scream just before the line though....there were a few loud audience screaming moments throughout the show! In fact....right at the start of Wicked Game...after D has come onstage from singing the first part off (love how people look around the auditorium to try and spot him!)...he is about to launch into it at the mic....right as he opens his mouth to sing, a woman in front row, perhaps not far from where Kris was sitting the night before last (lets call it the SQUEEE seat : , lets out a short, loud and uncontrollable scream! Heeeee! D's response? He misses the line, breaks out into an enormous grin and tries hard to suppress a giggle. Audience in hysterics. He doesnt skip a beat on the guitar though, and just plays himself a couple more bars as an intro, then starts again.

Speaking of vocal audiences, this one felt far more so than on the 27th..though I had a better view of the audience too last night from where I was sitting... There were quite a few standing Ovations...I will confess to standing and applauding a few times myself Most instantaneous one was after Crying, which was truly quite astounding. Really, and I'm doing the girl scout salute here, peoples jaws were actually dropped in amazement during that performance. Loud appaluse broke out after the first few bars of most the songs too as people recognised what he was about to sing. I got to wondering about what will become the signature tune from the Idol experience, as I assume (and hope) that once the studio albums start coming out, the covers will drop from the live sets as the original material takes over. During Celebration ( : Trilly leaned over to me and said "This will be his Sadie", which may be right! (he was gorgeous during it I'll have to confess, adorkable meter went through the roof as did the admiration factor). I couldnt imagine him not doing a live show again with Hallelujah...I think the audience would lynch him before he left the stage.... ...and a few hearts broke as he finished the set without doing Nessun dorma! As I was sitting down from another standing O at the end ( : , I caught a look at the lady behind me, who was near in tears. A friend was comforting her, and she was shaking her head in disbelief saying "I cant believe he didnt do Nessun dorma". I swear if you saw her on the street it was like she'd had a death in the family. I was going to lean across and tell her not to worry....but I thought I'd let D's reappearance be a nice suprise. As he purposefully strode on and took the mic she put her hands to her face, and as he started to sing she did a squeeeeeeeeee into her hands that rivalled KLD's of the night before. This woman would have been 65 though And then theres Crying, which really did work people into an absolute frenzy....and was truly breathtaking....I wonder which one will be Sadie?
