Speaking of vocal audiences, this one felt far more so than on the 27th..though I had a better view of the audience too last night from where I was sitting... There were quite a few standing Ovations...I will confess to standing and applauding a few times myself Most instantaneous one was after Crying, which was truly quite astounding. Really, and I'm doing the girl scout salute here, peoples jaws were actually dropped in amazement during that performance. Loud appaluse broke out after the first few bars of most the songs too as people recognised what he was about to sing. I got to wondering about what will become the signature tune from the Idol experience, as I assume (and hope) that once the studio albums start coming out, the covers will drop from the live sets as the original material takes over. During Celebration ( ) Trilly leaned over to me and said "This will be his Sadie", which may be right! (he was gorgeous during it I'll have to confess, adorkable meter went through the roof as did the admiration factor). I couldnt imagine him not doing a live show again with Hallelujah...I think the audience would lynch him before he left the stage.... ...and a few hearts broke as he finished the set without doing Nessun dorma! As I was sitting down from another standing O at the end ( ), I caught a look at the lady behind me, who was near in tears. A friend was comforting her, and she was shaking her head in disbelief saying "I cant believe he didnt do Nessun dorma". I swear if you saw her on the street it was like she'd had a death in the family. I was going to lean across and tell her not to worry....but I thought I'd let D's reappearance be a nice suprise. As he purposefully strode on and took the mic she put her hands to her face, and as he started to sing she did a squeeeeeeeeee into her hands that rivalled KLD's of the night before. This woman would have been 65 though And then theres Crying, which really did work people into an absolute frenzy....and was truly breathtaking....I wonder which one will be Sadie? Winter - I love reading all this thanks! I have always said D should release Crying. I think his performance of it is breathtaking and would probably out sell Anthony's The Prayer. It has been covered by quite a few but I think it is such a brilliant song and Damien does it so well -anyway that's my hope.

Oh Trilly and Winter...Just read this review...and I can't describe how I am now feeling.....I was EXCITED! earlier this week.....but now I'm just UNBELIEVABLY DIZZY WITH ANTICIPATION! I was a tad worried that reading ALL the reports from everyone would ruin the Surprise Factor! But every night of his tour seems to have something different thrown in! Your reports on the songlist set is outstanding, so descriptive and full of detail!. So glad you enjoyed both nights ;D *just hope no-one expects a great report from me! ......a monkey could write a better report than I. Mine will be a blur by Sunday anyway....so expect some mumblings and lots of ummms and arrrs.....* ;D

I had no idea you girls were going again last night. I wish I had been able to see him twice because I really can't remember too much from my concert - I was too much in awe, too busy snapping photos, too excited etc etc etc It would have been nice to sit back further and get a another perspective - but I'm not complaining - just glad I got to go and sit in the front row with all my friends. DANNY BOY!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been dying to hear D sing this - I can only imagine how brilliant it was. You Brissy girls have to make sure he sings it up there and you need to record it for us pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *insert begging smiley*

I thought to myself... just you wait then! And then out he comes and they nearly screamed (people in their 40s by the looks!) I also enjoyed being totally immersed in the front row, but then the 2nd night sitting back with a very clear overview. Very funny about the opening of Wicked Game, he can just go with it and recover, good showman.

I should have known better than to read the concert reports at uni. I'm sitting here trying not to melt into a little puddle on the floor of the computing lab. People are giving me really funny looks. GWAH! *melts* Danny Boy... a bit of Fall At Your Feet... and Celebration! And most of all, THE VOICE! *in the interests of minimising trauma, everyone should turn away at this point while Kami has a major fangirl moment* I agree that Crying would have been a brilliant single. There's something about the way he performs it that makes you believe every word, and that's not something I've felt in every version. I've only heard him sing it the once on Idol, but I can only imagine from all the reports that he's gotten even better, so I really hope that stays at his concerts. Ha - my mother would cry too if he didn't sing Nessun Dorma at the Hobart concert! (And we both probably will if he does, anyway... ;D ) Thanks for the detailed report Winter! And thanks Trilly for the set list!

Tonight, I am pleased to report that, as per instructions, I am able to provide a complete and accurate Set List for Damien's third Melbourne Concert at The Palms. (Hope you like it, grumpy pants!) (yeah I took a notepad...so sad!) As expected, he opened with the recent version of Wicked Game then, in order If tomorrow Never Comes..with band MTMG..the rocky version. Next came a surprise. Someone in the audience yelled Celebration..."let's do it for the craic"!says D..hehe Fun!!..(but don't ask winter..) High and Dry..Radiohead version. [ i]Beautiful[/i] Damien's own. Well received again. Crying..as last night, superb rendition of the whole song.. Then, another surprise, from an audience "suggestion" Danny Boy (acoustic)..spellbindingly gorgeous..a highlight! Hallelujah (acoustic) Held the last note forever. next Come to Me (acoustic)..winter was in tears..so was I..this was perfect. Sky was next, the rocked up version. It really builds to a crescendo. next You Are So Beautiful..with band. Another highlight! Next came the With or Without You singalong.. which morphed into a medley with Fall at Your Feet..another surprise. Worked brilliantly. Finally Night of My Life, the extended version. Falsetto dazzling! Encore Nessun Dorma superb as always, but last night was better. lastly Unchained Melody Holding notes for days and nights..amazing! Missing from the previous evening Waiting on an Angeland Song for JarvisSee, now this is MUCH better - you can drool and I can appreciate the subtle changes in set lists and the surprise choices...magic! ;D Well done!

Very funny about the opening of Wicked Game, he can just go with it and recover, good showman. It actually helped him develop an almost instant rapport with the audience...before he had even finished the first number...in fact, they had the lights on us during small parts Wicked Game as D encouraged the crowd to start singing (that didnt happen the night before) After WG, a lady right up the back absolutely screamed out as he started talking "I LOVE YOU DAMO!!"...again, the audience was in hysterics, and D had a giggle too...then asked where she was "come on where are you, dont be shy"....lights up on audience and aforementioned audience members stands up and starts dancing about...pretty funny stuff, D was highly amusing and told her he'd be watching her during the singing parts.... Another gorgeous moment was in the middle of the show, I WISH I could remember what song it was during, but there was a child to the right of him in the audience down front...I think the child waved, and he waved back, with the strumming hand while strumming..then he turned to the other side and there was a wee little boy on his Dads lap in front of us...little boy waves, and D gives him the same little wave back...that kid was so happy, he was bouncing up and down on his fathers lap for the rest of the show with the biggest grin on his face. I think that was a really special moment for the little chap I guess thats the one thing you didnt really get from Idol...its how much D seems to thrive on, enjoy and respect an audience. I was trying to picture any of the other Idol top 5 from this year doing a tour like this....perhaps with the exception of Chris, I think it would be a very different kind of show....

Yep, and reading Winters further reports I'm even happier - see this is the sort of detail I need! And as for - attending more than one show to check out the differences...you'll be a full-blown nutter like my Springsteen mates before you know where you are!
