sorry Roxy, Chris & Neski - no one loves U2 more than me *gloves off* Just saw Damien on all 3 newses, it was great to see him looking so well and very sweet with the kids! A shame they also didn't show him at the Steve Waugh Foundation dinner which was also covered, (it's confirmed in today's papers Damien performed there too) they showed Leo Sayer performing there. mmmm! funny how Neski and Chris and now yourself are just trying to copy me ...but thats ok...I don't mind, after all I SAID IT FIRST!......so I'm the bigger fan! and Damien can become a Monk for all I care! *wonders if orange would look good on D *

Thanks so much for your help GJ - I just tried it again and it still won't work - maybe I should wait a few hours, there could be a lot of people trying to see it?

I just tried it and it is working for me.
the way he was introduced, it did really seem that he was there (just?) as the pre-launch entertainment. Ok, probably a bit of a muffled level of support for the ALP seeping through, but there were enough references to his national tour etc in the intro and after he sang that made you think it was more of a professional entertainer being there rather than a Card Carrying Member.
*stops pontificating now*

Finally got the link to work Now I just have to wait about an hour for it to load! I put it on "pause" when it's loading - then I can play it all straight through at the end and it doesn't break up.

One more thought: perhaps Damien knows Premier Morris Iemma or one of the state government ministers? That could be why he was invited.

Well well, what can I say. You know it never ever entered my mind that just because Damien was singing at this event that it meant he was taking some kind of political stance. Why would I assume that, when I don't know the man personally. I thought oh great another gig, more exposure for my most fave male singer ever! Glad to see he's getting lots of work. Then I come here the place where Damien's so called biggest fans hang out and find out that some people are disappointed, and angry and judgemental about his appearance? If one assumption about Damien can change the way you feel about him then it's best you don't be a fan to him, because Damien deserves loyal fans. And you know what even if it was a political move on Damien's part so what! Is the only way you can appriciate the guy is if he follows all your own beliefs and stances? So what next he sings at say a football teams celebration and you go off him because you don't barrack for that team? So so disappointed. I'm glad there are still people here that do love Damien for what he has given us....beautiful music and a beautiful soul.

I am really surprised by some of these posts. Who is talking of leaving? I haven't read anything like that. I have read of one member who has said that she has lost a hero, but that is the closest thing to 'leaving' and she hasn't said that. I think people are jumping to conclusions a lot here with this thread unless, and I apologise in advance if I have missed something, if people have deleted their posts and I have missed them.

You have missed something...but you are correct, posts have been deleted, so you werent to know. Please trust me when I say, as crazy as we often are, the staff have not been jumping to conclusions, and that we have tried our best on what has been a difficult day.

OK and we know how hard the staff here work. I feel sad then, if anyone leaves.
