GJ says the crowd in the middle was very corporate, that Damien had to work really hard but eventually managed to get them to sing along in the singalongpart of With or Without You.

Yeah... I was thinking the atmosphere of this show would be very different because of the venue and probably a different crowd, but Damien came out to really enthusiastic applause from the commoner sections at least (or was that just my family...? ) and he really did get everyone singing along eventually in With Or Without You, which was amazing. They were pretty hesitant at first - again, not talking about anyone from my branch of the family tree. I think he recognised me and my mother and sister - he turned towards us in Wicked Game and definitely looked towards my mother, who I know he won't be forgetting for a while. He did Twenty-Two Steps slightly differently tonight - a little more band, I think, or at least he said. I don't really remember the details of the previous night's arrangement to be honest because I was concentrating on the lyrics. I've changed my mind. I can't say anything for sure, of course - who can predict the charts? - but I think it might make an excellent single. I noticed a lot of people in the audience, most of whom wouldn't have heard it before, all ages, who really got into it. I really adore it. It's no more out there than SexyCra- *ahem* SexyBack.

Oooh Kami, 22 Steps might be really promising then - a real breakthrough *crosses fingers for D*

Night Wombat! I hope the reports were almost as good as being there... well, I know nothing can live up to that but I can try! ;D I love the band version of Sky. I adore that song anyway, but the piano part had a sort of gospel-y vibe to it that just sounded So. Darn. Cool. Was that the way he did it at all the other concerts? I was so happy that tonight I got to film it. I think Damien looked aside at one point and spotted me filming and singing along, and looked quite gratified. I like to think that, anyway.

Wow thanks for all this news Kami and all the girls via sms! I didn't think we'd hear anything for a while. This sounds so beautiful - ah!! What amazing acoustics there must have been, it must have been glorious!
Damien has bought pink pants?! Hope he wears them soon so we can see them!
I'm very keen to hear this new song it!! And yes Kami, Sky was done with a big sound for the concerts, the arrangement sounded incredible even though I also like the simple version - but the bigger sounding version had a real momentum to it.

Wow, sounds like a wonderful night. Having been away, I am taking ages to catch up on all the treads. Just wondering how come Damien was playing at the Cathedral, was this one of his scheduled concerts or a special event. It would have been a special treat to hear him sing in that beautiful environment!
