Sorry gj, I'll try to send you the tape but it'll need some editting cause it's got lots of irrellvant bits in it like other singers, the huge crowd and my family. Probably only 5 minutes of Damien all up. I made sure I didn't get his family - but Jarvis has had a hair cut. Not really short though - neck length. He's still really cute. I didn't see Jagger - he was probably rugged up against the wind and in the stroller or cuddled by family. The other artists were on till probably 8.30pm cause I was worried about the darkness and filming. they were very good and the key the main singers sag at was very manageable for general folk in a sing-a-long. But not too many people were singing. I got my family all doing it though ;D they eventually had Damien on after raffle prizes and speeches by various people. Appearently Damien was performing completely for free. It's his donation to the charity for which they're fundraising. Then he took the mic as the Police Band left ... HALLELUJAH!!! I mean literally! When the MC finally announced Damien was on I was not alone rushing calmly (?) to the front area to film. as he started with "Hallelujah" It was all acoustic and he was what the crowd was waiting for.

Oh the fans that built up in front of the stage. From having about 3m walking space it bacame zero and standing room only! Funny... it could've been a Dean Geyer concert cause it was 50% screaming girls, 30% women like me and the rest guys of various ages and all ;D But tragedy!! As he started singing the sky which had stayed dry the whole show so far started drizzling till it became a heavier showeras he persevered till the end of the song but the roadies were already covering the equipment with tarps. He was hitting those gorgeous high tones in the end as squeals of "it's raining!!!" and "eeek" w=echoed through the crowd. Then organisers came to talk to him as someone came with an umbrella for him. The rain just kept getting heavier and heavier so the MC announced a break for safety reasons. . the band members were rushing back to rescue their instruments. Meanwhile Damien obliged the screaming and waving fans by shaking hands at the front for a few minutes. OMG!! they really were like the Dean fans ... who says he has no younger generation fans ;D

Just thinking about the boating thing... maybe he was being literal? ... Anyway... back on topic: They eventually switched all the mics off, the lights too and were dismantling things... but made no announcements (probably because they didn't want to electrocute anyone). Eventually a roady tells someone who called out "what's happening?", "It's over. The shows finished!" We were all shocked and so disappointed. But most of us didn't want to believe that we'd waited all night and only got one song Why didn't they have a cover when the forecast since last week was for evening showers?! Anyway, Damien hung around just like most of us hoping things would improve. And miracle! it did after about 10 minutes (when it showered intermittently even getting heavier). I'd already returned to my area to pack up when after a dry spell (2 minutes) we realised he was coming back on :rudolf: He said he'd do just one more song and it was NOML. He really got the crowd singing along with him and they loved it. But I really wished he could've done a Christmas song as his 3rd. Unfortunately, that was the end of his part of the show. Rain did completely finish off the show about 5 minutes later - sadly because Santa didn't end up making an appearance at all ... I think (because we left at this point), and the kiddies had really been singing their lungs out with the "Santa's coming to Town" lure. As for Damien, it was so nice seeing him interact with the crowd and get such positive attention from so many fans. :wavesanta: The only thing, I hope he realises is that where we were sitting was a pure coincidence...no stalking . Lol As far as I'm concerned, he sat next to me and my family

Yes, i did have a great night, sj. I just love singing and the rain was just part of the adventure. We were prepared but unfortunately the organisers weren't. Still... my kids came home happy and saying they had fun and the younger one even sang along and laughed (she's usually "at that stage"... and Emo music ) So I'm so grateful that our new member antares posted the information and Braffy started this thread. THANK YOU BRAFFY & ANTARES!! Otherwise I wouldn't have known! It would have been Damien's little secret - him and the Canada Bay residents!

Thanks for the great report Nuffy, it sounds like you had a wonderful night despite the rain. I had my fingers and everything else crossed for you that the rain would hold off but it wasn't meant to be. How lovely that Damien and family spread their blanket just in front of you and I'm so glad that you got your Christmas hug and kiss. Thanks so much for getting Damien to send us a Christmas message and I can't wait to see the video.

Miss 13 did ask if I HAD to wear that t-shirt... "it's so bright!" I told her "That's the point!"... It really was probably the only thing he saw when he looked my way the first time D [/size] Thanks for the great report Nuffy, it sounds like you had a wonderful night despite the rain. I had my fingers and everything else crossed for you that the rain would hold off but it wasn't meant to be. Thanks Mysterri, it probably bought us the extra song I'll try to get the tape to gj ASAP...
