Hi Andy :wavesanta: Thanks for the comments, and also to Princess and smiley - it was my pleasure!! Damien was really in good voice and the crowd were all loving him too. But I'm heading to Sunrise now - he'll be on in a tick!

It was lovely reading your report, Nuffy. Fancy Damien setting up next to you! (I seem to remember it happening to someone last year at the Carols in the Domain, is that right??) Shame it was rained out, though. Send some of that rain down our way, we really need it! (and they say Melbourne is the "rainy" city )

I'm so glad you were able to attend Nuffy.
I didn't get the up close experience with Damien but it was wonderful to hear him. I am a bit disappointed he didn't get a chance to sing any Christmas music.
The rain held off all night until the very moment Damien started to sing. It was lovely of him to finish off the first song even though it was raining quite hard by then. A lot of people left during the rain break so I was surprised (and delighted) when he rewarded those of us who remained with NOML during a break in the clouds.
It was great to see the swarms of little kids rush the stage when he was announced. Damien seemed to be very popular with the young crowd.
It ended up being quite an enjoyable evening.

Hiya Antares I didn't realise you'd be there. Did you see my tshirt glowing in the dark up front and right side of the stage? I walked around a bit. It would have been nice to say 'hi' to you in person. But there were hundreds of people in that little park. I didn't get a huge "up close and personal" this time - just a little chat... but it was a lovely little chat. Yes, "Reward" is the right word for sticking around. It was a real treat! But I think he's paying for his generosity today. I relistened to his interview on Sunrse and he's definitely hoarse when speaking All that standing around in the rain and wind. I really pity the other singers, especially the soloist in her sleeveless gown, cause they were in the cold breeze much longer than Damien. Even the band would have been so cold in their short sleeves up on stage. If only they gave him more time earlier and did the speeches last!

I don't think I spotted you Nuffy. I'll have to get better at recognizing those t-shirts and I may have been a little too focused on the man himself. ;D
