Shimmery I went to the website to donate online. I can pay with a credit card that's no prob but it doesnt say it's a secure connection Is it safe to send my credit card details if it aint a secure site. I'm sure it shouldn't matter but just want to be sure. I'll do it tomorrow once I know

OMG Trilly - I checked that twice before I posted and still got it wrong - thanks so much for spotting that, I've corrected it now Irishrokit I donated online, and all the little security padlcks etc came up on my browser indicating it was secure. I also asked Monica if it was and she said that yes it was but of course security is paramount so please do speak with her on her phone number here if you have any concerns before using it: (02) 8116 9839 Thanks so much for the feedback!

Doesn't it close at 5pm or tonight? Credit card is the only way they would get it instantly Mine's gone through but do I get a receipt or anything? They don't have my email so I suppose they'd post it if they do send one?

I've answered your PM Irishrokit but regarding the receipt, yes, the SO will send you one - if you don't receive it in the next week, just let them know but from what I hear everyone is receiving their receipts pretty quickly Thank you

Beautiful news - Damien has been Officially Announced as a Special Olympics Ambassador today on his birthday From the Special Olympics News Page This article is also in the Media forum: Australian Idol becomes Special Olympics Australia Ambassador Published Thursday, January 18, 2007 by Special Olympics Australia Australian Idol, Damien Leith has announced that he will be an Ambassador for Special Olympics Australia and is looking forward to meeting many of the athletes with an intellectual disability who participate and compete around the country on a regular basis. Damien first came into contact with Special Olympics in 2003 when the World Games was held in Dublin and his wife, Eileen, helped in the staging of an event that Irish people will never forget. Almost four years later the next World Games are being held in Shanghai in China and Damien is delighted to support the team that will represent Australia there next October. “I want to meet the athletes and help add value to the lives of people with an intellectual disability” said Leith. “Anybody who has ever been to a Special Olympics disco – either in Ireland or Australia – will know that these athletes love to dance and they love their music. I am looking forward to meeting them on my tour around Australia”. Ms Catriona Barry, Chief Operations Officer of Special Olympics Australia, said she was thrilled that Damien was joining other ambassadors, Peter Overton and Paula Duncan, in promoting the work of the organisation. “Special Olympics is about participating in sport and through sport providing a fitness, independence, a social life and community around people with an intellectual disability. Already many of our members are clamouring to meet Damien and we have established contact with the Damien Leith fan club who are supporting us by making contributions for Damien’s birthday on the 18 January.

Who knew a little unofficial fan forum in Australia could make such a difference! We have both Shimmery, our wonderful, dedicated organiser, and of course our man Damien, who chose and supported this project, to thank! So many people around here are not only music fans, but are consciously considerate of other people, and are making an effort to improve the lives of others. A big thanks should go to Monica too!
