I am so thrilled to announce that the GRAND TOTAL FOR ALL YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS WAS $ 1930[/b] Monica has prepared a lovely letter for the forum which I will scan on the weekend and post for you all to see. Damien was AMAZED at the total - in his own words, he said it was "Onbelievable!" You have all done an amazing amazing thing - I hope every one of you knows the impact this contribution from the forum will make to the Special Olympics in such an important year as this with their World Games coming up. Well done to all of you, I am so proud of this forum I can't even say  |

Cheers guys  What an amazing effort by the forum, I still can't get over it. I have lots more to add of course, about the letter we gave Damien & Monica's letter and their comments and pics etc but I've still got a lot to compile so it won't be all ready here for a day or so. I need a rest this Sunday too, lol - a few sleepless nights lately worrying about not forgetting important things for the letters, etc!  Next year will be great, but for now I'm going take in the moment and thank everyone who helped make that incredible tally happen |

What an absolutely fantastic result !! Congratulations to everyone,what a sterling effort by us all. I am so proud to b a part of this & also proud to b a member of this forum. Thanku Shimmery for such a fantastic effort in putting all of this together,so happy for u, Neski & the other girls that u got to give it to Damien personally,u really deserve it  |

Well done to everyone who donated..I feel very proud to be a part of such a scheme - many thanks again to shimmery (and Monica) for organising this.
Now we have 12 months till the next one...I think $5000 is a good figure to aim for! And we can do alot more other fundraising methods now we have time...

Thank you guys, I get quite a tear thinking of how something positive like the energy here can build to such an outcome. I really thank all of you who cared enough to channel your goodwill for Damien into this gift for the Special Olympics. Damien read every word of Monica's letter and when he saw the total, he was stunned - the tally was amazing! Only a few days back I was contacted by Carla, who with Neski had aranged with David a surprise presentation to Damien for the other birthday gifts, and asked if Monica & I would like to go. It was an honour to meet Monica, present the tally with her in person on your behalf and be able to let you know Damien's reaction at your efforts! Really looking forward to maintaining the momentum of the forum to giving our support to the SO, this is a big year for them and we can hopefully really make a tangible difference! Just reading the booklets Monica sent out with the receipts is such a wake up call. Will post Monica's letter either later tonight or tomorrow, still have to do the scanning etc |

I think the best follow up for the rest of 2007 would be for people from the forum and their families to consider donating their time during the year to the work of the SOA ... volunteer assistance is invaluable.
