In all honesty Neski, maybe think about leaving D out of it for the time being? He's gotta have alot on his mind right now....
perhaps Eileen a better choice to consult? (though I'm sure she is flat out too!).

Of course we all missed you Neski.
Very nice pics of D and Ronan there *fans herself*
It sounds like Damo will be caught between a rock and a hard place. I imagine D would much prefer to have this fan club wouldn't he, but I bet he will have to sign so many clauses in his contract and become "their property" and have to go with what they say. That's just a guess of course. I wonder if D can just come in here under a pseudonym (jk) I know he can't but gee it would be nice lol.

wow, I've just been playing catch up with this thread. Reading the 'exclusive' stuff on the dean site reminded me of Lisa Simpson calling the Corey hotline I'm interested to know if this fanclub stuff is being set up by the idol machine, or individual idols. I'd like to think that they have a say in who and how their official fan clubs are set up and run. $30 is a lot of money to pay for a 'fan club' when the benefits are mostly online content. The only thing I would be interested in is premium seating at concerts. Any 'exclusive' pics wouldn't stay so for long on the internet. They'd be emailed and PMd faster than .. well, something very fast! I seriously don't like the idea of an 'exclusive' club, especially one that squeezes fans out of $30. Money that should be spent on music. Online communities are for building friendships and sharing interests. I've never heard of an online fandom charging money, and I've been a part of a few fandoms now. It's got the potential to leave people out, when all fans should be welcomed and made to feel like part of the community. It disadvanges young people whose family might not be able to meet the costs. Will they feel left out at school if they can't afford their 'exclusive' Dean content? Honestly, it seems to be the management company making money.. when they would already be gaining by promotion and building online communities. I really would wonder how the other idols would feel about this, when their fans have supported them with so many votes, and intend to buy CDs and go to concerts. Paying $30 for the priviledge of 'exclusive' content seems to be an extention of the idol machine. Communities such as this one that grow out of a shared experience and admiration for an idol to my mind are much richer and are run by people who care about the idol and their fans. There's a real sense of belonging and community. Most fan based sites I've seen on the web are free to join and offer a range of content and perks for joining. It should be a way to touch base with fans. Joss Whedon is a great example of someone who stays in touch with fans and has a fantastic following online. To the point that much of his success with getting Serenity made was helped by the push of publicity through online fandom. James Marsters Online is another official site that offers content that keeps James in touch with his fans. He has a huge online fan base. Sorry, this has been a bit long and rambling.. I'll be very interested to hear what the other idols think about this idea. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Eileen and Damien decided that they'd prefer a site like this one for their official club You guys are great

Below is a quote by Dean Geyer in TV Week when he was asked about his new website. Have you seen DeanGeyer.net?I actually haven't seen it yet but I will check it out. Some guy I know made it and my friend got in contact with Sam to thank him. I've met him — he's come to a few shows.deangeyer.netThis doesn't seem to have anything to do with the Caplice Management site at www.deangeyerfan.com/ where fans are charged a membership fee. This is nothing more than a money-grabbing exercise on the part of Caplice Management! The scary thing is they have their greedy sights set on Damien and Jessica as well. Neski, I think you should be making yourself heard in regard to making this place the official and free Damien Leith Fan Club and when the dust settles, inviting Damien and Eileen to visit, even if it's only a once a week newsletter from Eileen if Damien is too busy to chat. Don't let the big boys push you aside!

I tend to agree with what Moszaic said, it would be a shame to let this original site go, and not everyone can afford to pay to go to a site.
I have recently visited Casey's forum and my god it is absolutely HUGE, my sister warned me its as big as Guy's & Shannons, (so much for people saying Casey is a no-body). I actually was put off going in again, I got lost so much hahahah, its like a maze. I realise that when Damo gets more successful etc, its bound to happen. But I really think this forum should stay around, if Neski etc. want it that way. Lets not forget this is where we all met & celebrated the great Damien Leiths incredible journey of fame.
No site will be the same as this one in my opinion, this is where it all began.
Byeee for now Damienites xxx

And now to the "thread hijack" sub-conversation.... No. No no no no no no no. You are supposed to furniture people. Household furnishings. As in, you are here so often you are part of the furniture. None of this micstand/ pick/ guitar bull crap. Excuse me, Miss Chaise Lounge, but the Idol house has a recording studio, and I'm sure Damien wouldn't feel at home without this stuff around. Quit being jealous because he values us more ;D This thread is taking off like a runaway train! Let me jump back on... The only real reason I would be paying $30 would be the 'personal messages' and stuff. But surely, after Idol, Damien will be allowed to post stuff here if he chooses (please, if your reading, please!!). This is a public forum, and he has the right to send a personal email, so why not? One other reason to join the club - would my $30 go towards filling some opportunist's pocket, or keeping Jarvis in fresh nappies? Because the more worthy cause is obvious...
