Yes, to make an iTunes purchase count on the charts, you need to download the whole EP OR the title track (22 Steps) ON OR AFTER the release date.
If you have just downloaded the bonus track, the sale does not count towards the track - you must have downloaded "22 Steps".

ARIA CHARTIFACTS FOR WEEK 30/7/07 22 Steps Singles Charts National - #11 NSW - #6 Vic/Tas - #4 Qld #5 SA - #3 WA - #2It looks like Damien playing in Perth on the weekend of the new release had an impact on the WA charts! It must have been all those women desperate to get his signature (and fingerprints ) on their copy of the disc. Why hasn't he had more mass signings around the place, surely that helps sales!!! Dean had a big signing event in a shopping centre over here, good for generating sales and publicity. I was quite surprised that he was in Perth on Saturday when his single was released, with no big event organised for the day. I'm not sure I would have handled it that way if I was his manager (but I am not complaining - we got to hear him live first!!) Hopefully there will be a bit more of this when his album is released.

I agree tina, he came to Brisbane TWICE in one week, but no-where for the FANS/STALKERS to go see him at all. We only heard him on the radio with the rest of you. ;D I know they need to butter up the Media/Radio personalities....but us fans are the ones that BUY the music too! It works both ways. I was a little disappointed that nothing was organized for it. Not just for us, but other States as well.

You're right Roxy, the fans (stalkers??? who us ) can generate a lot of publicity and sales if they get the opportunity to meet their idol! He did this massive whirlwind trip around Australia, but unless you were in Perth, there was very little opportunity for Damien to meet the fans. If you don't listen to radio, then you probably would have had no idea that Damien had a new single out, and a lot of people don't listen to radio! I didn't catch any of his radio interviews, I only caught up with them courtesy of people on this forum.

I did manage the tv appearances though. but not quite the same as waiting in line and squeeeeing your heart out at a venue!!

I don't think he will be on it for a few weeks. At least it will help the album sales along though as it should be around the time the album is released

I really wanted the song to debut in the Top 10, but I've actually found myself not so bothered with #11...I think its a pretty good result I agree with mars in that this song is a "grower"...I know it certainly didnt grab me on the first few listens, its not a "pop" song. Perhaps, if the radio play picks up (hello people>>>> !) the position will rise... Number #3 in the physical sales is really REALLY good, we just need the downloads to pick up a bit! I'd encourage people if they want to make extra purchases this week to download it from a few different locations (just remember that only one download from any one store will count towards the charts...ie dont download it more than once from the same store). I will buy some extra physical copies too...if anyone is wondering what to do with their extra copies, you could always send one to one of our overseas members Yes good idea. I have 3 extra copies. If you are overseas and want the single please PM me and I'll send it to you! I hope you don't mind, I just PMed you in regards to this.
