Thank you so much Shims We can't sticky threads in any order at the moment, so teh Calandar makes it so much easier to see what is coming up. ;D

You're welcome! Thankfully the calendar events now go automatically into chronological order, that's a great help! I used to have to delete all my previous posts and start again for the month to keep it all in order if another event was to be posted prior to others on the calendar - . Now it all stays neat automatically

I had a brainwave in the shower. ;D
Are there any members who may NOT have cleared their cache since February? This is a long shot but information from DLO for the dates our files went missing may be sitting on someone's computer.
If you check your Temporary Internet Files (C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files) you may have html files of the pages you've looked at on DLO. To see what the html files contain, click on the file once and you'll see its information on the left of the screen. These html files can't be opened in the Temporary Internet Files folder but if you right click on the file, click on Open In New Window, you should be able to see the file.
Fingers crossed that someone has been slack with their computer housework. ;D

It's the first thing I thought of Myst. Nothing!

I thought of this the other day but wasn't sure whether it would open the latest versions of the pages or the old versions. But I'll check later because I'm on a different computer at the moment. EDIT #1: I just checked on this computer and found a file from 7th April. I think it was one of the pages of the Hut, but when I opened it, it said "An error has occurred. The thread you are trying to access does not exist." Come back missing threads! EDIT #2: Hang on a sec ... I got a page back! If you open in it from your Temporary Internet Files it doesn't work, but I copied it to My Documents and changed the name of the file, and it opened! I usually go on DLO more on a different computer but I have DLO pages on here up until 7th April. Now what should I do?

Spud, if you have cached files dating back to February they're not overwritten by newer files, they will remain intact until you purge your cache. Similarly, any images associated with the DLO html files will be cached in the Temporary Internet Files folder as either .jpg of .gif files. These can be retrieved the same way as the html files. Smiley, I knew that I didn't have any older cached files because I clear my cache on a regular basis but I did want to point this out to anyone who may be sitting on a lost goldmine. ;D

All I got was the thread headers it wouldn't show up individual pages...

Well done Spuddy. Copy and paste the information from the file and save it. It may be best to send anything you retrieve to the mods so that they can slot the relevant posts into the existing threads with the original date included. For example, if you find you have a copy of the thread where we talked about Damien's portrait or the tracks from the new album etc., the mods could compile these and add them to the threads that have been updated after the loss of our data. I'm more than happy to help out with any editing and compilation if required.

Okay this is going to take ages to look through all these pages and it'll be very confusing, but I'll do my best. Can other people check if they have some of the pages still on their computers? I can't be the only one that doesn't clear out their temporary internet files regularly, surely.

Ooh I just found a page from the Vanguard thread!
EDIT #1: Okay, I've got 104 pages of old stuff on this computer (although some of that is me looking at people's profiles or PMing people). I don't go on this computer much so there will be other pages on a different computer as well.
Now ... what do I do with these 104 pages?
EDIT #2: Just went through all those pages and deleted all the stuff we don't need anymore. (e.g. articles that have already been reposted, unless there were comments with the article, in which case I kept it, etc). There's still lots of doubled up stuff (like from when I checked a thread once and then later on when more had been added to it), but oh well.
So I've got it down to 53 pages, but I still don't know what to do with it all ... ??

Spud this is terrific! I'm hoping you have some of the Dfest thread too. My computer (it's new) must be set to automatically clear my cache as I don't go far back at all and yet my old comp used to have heaps on it. I hope everyone else reads this and checks their's as well. Well done Myst. I didn't suggest this cause I couldn't open anything on mine and I assumed it was the same for everyone.

Thanks Mysterri for this great idea you really should shower more often Roxy, I shower every day and that's when a lot of my tutorials come into being. ;D Spud, I think the most important thing with the files you've found is to note the date and the subject. If you want a hand with anything let me know. Spud wrote: My point exactly and thus the reason I posted the suggestion. So come on everyone, check your Temporary Internet Files for any missing DLO data you may have on your computer. The easiest way to do this is to open Internet Explorer (if that's the browser you're using). Click on Tools on the taskbar. Click on Internet Options and under the General tab, midway down you'll see a heading called Temporary Internet Files. Click on the Settings button and in the next window click on View Files. The files in your cache will be listed from the oldest at the top to most recent at the bottom. If you find any html files relevant to DLO in the time frame we're missing (9th Feb - 15th April), right click on the html icon and click Open In New Window. The actual page will open and it is then just a matter of selecting all of the text, copying it and pasting it to a folder that you have named accordingly including the date of the html data.

Yes, I have some of the DFest thread Smiley, I actually just sent a page of it to Roxy to look at. Unfortunately though, I only have the DFest thread up until right before the DFest actually happened , because after that I didn't get a chance to read the thread. That was the only thread I didn't read though, so hopefully I will have all the other posts from other threads. (But I don't know how it works, like, does it save every page you look at or only some of them?) So other people should check to see if they have the DFest thread on their computer. EDIT: Myst - it's 9th Feb - 15th April. And everyone, it doesn't work if you just open it from your temporary internet files (well it didn't work for me). You have to copy it to somewhere else first.
