That's a shame Spud- the post Dfest stuff is so funny and it would be awesome if someone could locate it on their computer... but great work with the other stuff. Something else I would be keen to see is the Book stuff that was in Damien HQ (not the sercret thread-most of that is still there) - I have reposted but it's not the same.

Thanks for the correct February date Spud. No, you can't open the files in the Temporary Internet Files folder. As I mentioned you can right click on them and choose Open In New Window of simply copy the file and paste to your desktop or wherever you choose.
Spud, I wouldn't delete anything at this stage. If you want to copy the text from each file you have and send it to me via email, let me know.

Smiley, what book stuff? I might have it on my computer but I don't know what you're talking about. And what I was saying was, when I clicked on my temporary internet files and clicked 'open in new window', it wouldn't open. It just said that the page had been deleted. It only works if you copy it to another folder.

OK, thanks Spud. I think all of our computers have their own unique personality. ;D

I think it was called The Damienite Book thread but I could be wrong. I summarised the lead up to the book and talked a bit about it - don't worry too much. There is other stuff that would be better I think. Although it would be nice to have Angela's message about it and all our replies to her.

Absolutely Smiley, I agree and hopefully the book thread can be retrieved.
It's not possible to roll back the registry of DLO to before the data was lost because DLO is not ours to do so. Any data that can be retrieved would need to be posted as an annex to the relevant thread in date order. Fingers crossed that there is more data out there yet to be discovered.

I know there is nothing in my computer...I just emptied again last night I'm a good girl...and in this case, I'm very glad that Spud isn't the tidy type

Same here Roxy. I empty my cache daily but I'm sure there are others out there that haven't cleared their cache for a while. Two months flies by so quickly and if your computer isn't feeling sluggish, you don't tend to do the housework. ;D

Yeah actually, why do you guys bother cleaning it out? Does it speed it up or something? I don't think I've ever deleted anything from mine. I can't believe you do it daily Myst!

Spud, I think we're all so thankful that you haven't cleared your cache. ;D I've gotten into the habit of clearing my cache daily because my computer is an old clunker and becomes sluggish if I don't. I'm constantly sourcing a lot of graphic intense pages on line and these tend to bog down my computer. Your cache can fill up quickly and you may find that you have 100's of MB sitting there slowing down your computer.

Hey Myst - I was just thinking, if from now on, everytime you clear your cache, you back up all the DLO pages in another folder - then if we ever have another situation like this you will still have all the posts.
Or not necessarily you, but anyone who was willing to do that and had enough storage space to do that.
The only problem is that when you go to repost everything, it's very messy and confusing.

Yep, that would be one way of 'archiving' DLO. I suppose the files could be copied and pasted into a folder and then burned to a CD.

I for one never ever tidy the computer. And i read everything so... But I'll check to see if hubby has done anything. Thanks for the detailed instructions Mysterri, Spud, Smiley, Roxy... I'll get back to you but I'm really slow at this.

Nuffy that would be great and let's just hope that your DH hasn't been too diligent in the computer housework department. ;D
