From today's Herald Sun, about KD Langs number 1 album this week: "... sales are so, so low that Lang managed the feat with only 4914 copies nationally. That's the second-lowest-selling No. 1 in Australia EVER. Black Eyed Peas had a chart-topping week with 4800 sales two years ago."
Bad news for CD sales to be sure, but this means that it may only take 5000 sales nationally in Catch the Wind's first week to ensure the number #1 position! Therefore, it is vital to: - purchase the album in its first week of sales - Sat April 26 - Fri May 2. Not before and not after!
- make sure each purchase counts for the charts - buy only at Aria accredited stores
- consider buying multiple copies (it IS for Mother's Day you know
 ), and ensuring there are no more than 3 CD in one purchase

 I'll be doing my bit. 2 already on order through 2 different stores and a couple to be purchased from the stores. I won't be able to wait for the mail delivery so I plan on having at least one on the 26th.

That's really interesting Myst- thanks.
I was going to post something about kd getting to number one as I thought it was because she performed Hallelujah on Sunrise last week and they replayed the performance the next day as they had so much feedback about it. Which probably is why..but I'm surprised by the low number.
Paul Potts is back in the country touring-not sure if he's plugging a new album , they didn't interview him on It Takes Two the other night, and Carl Riseley has an album coming out on the same day as D.

I will confess to being a little optimistic - he is up against some HARD competition that week: Madonna - HARD CANDY (this will be hard to beat  ) Carl Risely - RISE also Kate Cebrano - new covers album SO MUCH BEAUTY (eg Chasing Cars, She Will Be Loved, Live to Tell) Andre Rieu - album aimed at Mothers Day buyers - Classical covers of Aussie classics (Home amond the Gumtrees, Waltzing Maltilda etc) |

Okay guys, if you want any of the other albums that Damien is up against, you'll just have to illegally download them ... ONLY JOKING!  Has anyone seen the Catch The Wind ad on TV lately? I've only seen it that one time during Saving Kids. I hope that they are still playing it and that people know that Damien has an album coming out.

I haven't seen any other tv ads for CTW beside the Saving Kids final episode, too Spud. I hope that when he does the tv appearances they show the ad. At least he's getting lots of tv exposure that week.

I'm a Madonna fan, I buy her CDs out of loyalty.  But Damienites: it's a deal, I'll buy Damo first and wait a few weeks for Madge. Let's get Damien to No 1!  |

good plan there sunshine!  I'm going to be shopping for friends and family to get their copies of CTW the first week too. It's a tough week all right but here's hoping we can all get Damien to #1, hopefully as many people as possible will be taking home this beautiful album to enjoy - and keeping it at the top of the charts for weeks to come! |

Guys, I pre-ordered two signed CDs from Damien's website...I am assuming they also will count in first week album sales? just to make sure, I've also pre-ordered at the record store, but am hoping both lots of sales count.....??
Does anyone know if the pre-ordered ones from the website count???

My mum pre-ordered a copy for me, and Ange is getting one for me too - Glad to be able to do my bit from the other side of the world!  I've heard a couple of reviews of Madonna's new album and they're not good. I think she will be hard to beat though, just because she is who she is... But, I think it can be done!! As for Carl Riseley... If he beats Damien, I'll laugh from shock and then cry |
