Hi everyone Just on quickly to say it was a lovely lovely show tonight I am really tired after working late every night this week, so am a bit but just so happy and thrilled to have seen Damien's show tonight. I don't have a set list but I think Braffy has one, but will write my impressions anyway Highlights for me were "Beautiful" on a Steinway piano no less, with gorgeous accompaniment by Indie - wow. "If" was also exquisite tonight and I thought the arrangement of "Annie's Song" with the electric violin was the best version I have heard of it yet, just stunning. Oh yes also meant to add how much I enjoyed the "Wild World" singalong, always do, and really LOVE Wicked Game extended version and with Irish Dancing as well! Damien had those feet springing and a smile on his face, and the whole club clapping and cheering along, was great! Again we saw tonight it's not just Damien's incredible performances but also always his musical arrangements that are wonderful as well in their own right. Big surprise tonight was that Eric will be finishing up the tour this weekend as he is going away, he will be sadly missed and was in fine form tonight. We were also treated to the incredible Jimmy Roach tonight, and the moments when they were playing together counterpoint to each other were just fabulous. We had a chat with Jimmy after the show and he is a lovely man, and very pleased to be with Damien doing the shows. The Basement has had a renovation since I was last there and is looking wonderful, brand new upstairs bar across Bulletin Place opening onto Macquarie Place with an underground connection to the club itself (which is, of course, in a Basement!) We all enjoyed a lovely dinner and the show started about 9:30ish. Wardrobe report to start - Damien had on a light shirt with his collar raised (spunky ) and jeans and converse. He also had the CTW leather jacket on I think, but he took it off first song in, it was very hot in there Lots of great banter with the audience as always, great moments with the audience and tons of laughs in between being spellbound Magic moment for me tonight was Damien singing "Hallelujah" and reaching those high notes at the very end with such beauty and determination after he told us that he wasn't feeling well tonight. When he reached those notes so purely at the end and held them so long I had tears in my eyes at what he had just done, and it is a moment I won't forget in a long time We are all hoping Damien will feel a lot better soon and wishing him speedy recovery Lovely lovely moments throughout. At the end we gave him a standing ovation in apprecation of his wonderfuul show and how giving he is to his audience. I'm just smiling away here at the memory of a great evening and can't wait to see his next show. Was such a great night with you all and another one to cherish

Well what can I say but... WOW!!!Any closer and we'd have been sitting on his lap! Yes, our tables were right next to the front of the stage and if I reached in I could've actually touched the mic stand. The Basement is a lot smaller than I remember so it was very intimate. It's late so I'll just get straight to the set list. Thanks to Braffy for meticulously noting it all. She and Dawn won't get anywhere near a computer for a couple of days so she left the list with me. i'll leave it to others later to talk about each song - but they were all fantastic. Never Meant to Fail Catch the Wind Guitar Man/ Stairway to Heaven Annie's Song If Not Just for the Weekend 22 Steps Everybody's Talking - interval - ON THE PIANO: Beautiful ON THE PIANO: Baby I Love Your Way Hallelujah Vincent ** Braffy's song 12,000 posts!! Wild World Encore: Wicked Game He started right on 9:30 and finished at 11:30. Damien was his usual friendly and funny self and, though slightly husky at the start of the night, he was singing beautifully and emotively throughout. However, into the second set he was already coughing a bit and he complained about the sore throat that he is sharing with Jarvis. By the end he was struggling to talk but amazingly was still able to hit most of the notes in his usual way while singing some of the harder ones a little bit softly or differently instead of belting it out fully. That meant that straight after the show he had to rush off home to rest his voice: No meet & greets tonight, no signings and no merchandise sales. So disappointing but also, it's so understandable with another show tomorrow night tonight and the filming. Geez I hope he keeps away from people tomorrow today cause his throat really needs the TLC Despite that it was still a thoroughly entertaining and mind-blowing live show - what an experience! Even hubby was completely won over by Damien's performances. The stand outs for me were Beautiful and Baby I Love Your Way on the piano They're always special for me anyway but although he hinted at a sing-along for BILYW we ended not having it and that suited me fine. I love the live version of 22 Steps too and Wild World. The group comp with Everybody's Talking was so much fun - but it was still great to listen to as well. I love the difference in the show that there's more focus on his total performance than a lot of audience participation. It was a really good balance. Damien LIVE = WOW!!!!
