Catch The Wind is awesome live, even better than the album version.
Guitar Man was awesome (as expected), and I really loved the Stairway To Heaven part. Damien claimed that it was an original
and said he thought it might be a hit if he released it, but that he should rename it to Escalator To Heaven.
Annie's Song was soooooo nice, I loved it.
We stood up to clap and cheer after that one.
I love how when Damien talks, he sometimes plays something on the guitar at the same time. ;D Before he started singing If, he was talking about it while they played a little intro, so you could tell which song he was about to sing. So I said to Mum, "He's about to sing If!" ;D and then for some reason, the way Damien was talking about the song made me think he was actually singing Longer. I got very excited because Longer is probably my favourite song on the album
(although I really love the more upbeat songs like Wild World as well
). But the weird thing was, it didn't occur to me until Damien got up to the "When my love for life is running dry" part that he was actually singing If, not Longer.
So although he didn't sing Longer, I wasn't disappointed at the end, because I felt as though I had heard it.
I love how Damien has improved the Where We Land songs even more. The Long Way Back, 22 Steps and Beautiful were really fantastic!
The guitar part in 22 Steps was WOW
and Beautiful was the most beautiful version I've ever heard!
Damien was already doing the most amazingly WOW high notes by himself, but when Indi joined in and sang with him, wow, it sounded soooo nice.
Everybody's Talking was really fun with the train noises. Toot, toot!
And oh my gosh, Eric's train noises were so AWESOME!
How does he do that?
Mum also thought Eric sounded really cool.
As I've already mentioned, after the break I asked Damien to sing Randy Sandy. It was pretty funny
, and nice of Damien to sing a bit for us. Crying was so awesome, it's just fantastic everytime I hear it. It was so amazing just sitting there in front of him while he sang these amazing notes! In fact, all throughout the concert, I was thinking how cool it was that Damien could just stand there and sing so well, seemingly effortlessly.
(At other times during the concert I just sat there looking at him and thinking "Wow, he's so good looking!"
)
I loved Father And Son, especially with the funny changes to the lyrics. Damien described himself as "ruggedly handsome with beautiful pearly white teeth".
Glad he's finally realised.
When he opened his mouth to sing the Son's part, he looked like a baby opening its mouth to cry, and then all of a sudden he was singing much higher than before and so it seemed for a second like he had started to cry. That made me laugh.
Vincent was awesome but I don't know if I like the way he stuffs it up on purpose (assuming it was on purpose). But when he sang the rest of the song after the stuff up, it was really good. Hallelujah was awesome as usual and the high notes were WOW fantastic.
I think it was during this song that Damien did a really long high note and started bouncing up and down to keep it going.
Then he ran away from the mic and came back still singing the note. Everyone cheered.
Wild World was really fun, I love Wild World!
Damien divided us into 2 teams to sing the guitar parts, which was cool. I love those guitar parts.
We were on Damien's team and we won.
When we were calling out for an encore, it seemed like we were waiting for longer than usual and I actually started getting worried that he wasn't coming back out.
But of course he did, and he sang Wicked Game with a cool little Irish jig. He also sang Kiss (as you already know). I had moved to the front and was watching Carla and Houndsy sing along. They were almost falling out of their seat in excitement I think.
He only sang the first part up until the "..KISS!" bit. I'd love to hear more of it. ;D Later when Eric and Jimmy came back out to talk us (which BTW, was very nice of them ;D
), Jimmy told us that they didn't know Damien was about to start singing Kiss, but they just went along with it.
Also, during Wicked Game he was doing the most amazing high notes, and getting us to sing them back to him. I think we did pretty well.
Damien and Eric work really well together. Eric and Jimmy are really awesome guitarists, and I loved how every so often they would start playing other songs, including Hotel California and Play That Funky Music (which they danced to
).
I really enjoyed watching Indi play the violin (or whatever that instrument is called
). Damien also got her to do a solo on the shaker, which was funny.
I think I already mentioned that Damien was saying "Yee-haa!" every so often.
But unfortunately he didn't sing I Will Always Love You.
Overall - my favourite concert of Damien's that I've been to!
