It is funny that you started your post off with that Kazza (Honey I'm home). While I was doing my cross country drive I was tinking that I might start my post with that.
Kazza has given the wardrobe report except they were not shoes but short boots that somehow managed to be inside the v-e-r-y
tight jeans. *wolf whistles*
Set list:
Remember June
To Get To You
Beautiful - OMG it certainly was and done on the portable keyboard
Unordinary WorldThe horse song -
Ride On I think it is called. I don't want to give the jokes away that Damien says, because he probably does them at each show, so to save all you others who are yet to have your shows there is a very funny (but true) statement made prior to this song)
This was the perfect time for Dawn to deliver the next surprise article to Damien
I will tell you what it was purely for the reason that Dawn will not be back until late Sunday afternoon/evening and may not have time to post before she has something on on the Monday. Also I have a photo although it is not too good.
It was a terrific red pair of shiny boxer shorts. On it was written 'You have a lovely bunch of coconuts' which then became the running gag of the night.
It was then the perfect time for Damien to talk about the Mankini that he received last week when he was in Queensland. He said he has been wearing it eversince but it is a bit tight and chaffing
Oops! This is meant to be the set list
Annies Song
If
Guitar Man
Wicked Game. - Damien proceeded to say that Queensland were the finest singers (but this was before we had sung). Actually, come to think if it, he didn't revise that comment
There was a short interval here.
If Tomorrow Never Comes - he mentioned that he had just been doing A Day On The Green with Ronan. I personally think that Damien does the better version. ♫♫♫
Calls from the crowd to do
Nessun Dorma which he reluctantly (but we know he wanted to) did acapella. He got huge cheers for this.
Field of Athenry - went down a treat with the crowd.
This next song I am not sure of the name. It is an Irish song and I think it is called
Road to Dublin. It starts off Merry month of June ...and other lyrics are Road to Dublin 1 2 3 4 5
There was a man (or 2 or 3
) who had quite a bit of
and were calling out all the time a song. Damien was able to interpret what they were saying so he did about half of
Father and Son which sounded lovely.
Danny Boy. The 2 people next to me were sobbing during this. I think they must have had someone called Daniel that may have recently passed away. That was my feeling anyway and Damien sang it beautifully.
22 Steps (mentioned the Hamish and Andy wedding)
somewhere around here or a bit earlier someone called out for some
ACDC so Damien sang a few bars
Damien then mentioned how last time he was at Gaels Eric played the guitar behind his back, so they then sang
La Bamba and once again Eric played the guitar like that. He is very talented.
I Don't Like Mondays - great version (with their portable piano)
Golden Line Goodnight *sigh*
Encore
Everybody's Talking
Hallelujah
I must comment on Hallelujah. The loud ones at the back with too much
in them were quite noisy during this. Where you would normally hear a pin drop, they were singing at the wrong times or pre empting Damien and I am amazed at how he kept his concentration. Damien did a different ending to Hallelujah tonight. He normally holds the last note forever Hal - lay - luuuuuuuuuuuuooooooooooooooo - ya.
Tonight he sang Hal - lay - luuuuuuuuuuu - oooooooooooo and then he went even higher with more ooooooooooooo there was no ya
I think it was the loud ones at the back that brought a pint of Guinness down to Damien and the band.
I haven't told you who was there. Eric, Indi (looking gorgeous with her lovely hair cut) and Kevin Kelly playing the Bodhran drum.
There was a lot of involvement with the band all featuring at different parts of the show.
I love the start of Remember June with the drum and with Indi playing the tin whistle.
I have more to say. I will make it a new post though. I will give my honest appraisal of the show.
Please forgive (and forget) any spelling mistakes ets. It is late.
