20TH FEBRUARY SHOW
It is now my turn to say Honey I'm Home
Surprise, surprise. I ended up going to this show after all. I couldn't bear the thought of being home alone (hubby was going to be out) and knowing that Damien was going to be doing another mind blowing concert.
I put on the biggest
that I could muster and just looked
at MrBraff and said p l e e e e a s e
He had no chance of saying no, so I rang the club to secure a seat and madly jumped into the shower etc. This was 4pm and I knew that Dawn and Kazza were meeting up for tea at 6.
Well Damien, I had the CD turned up full ball as I was driving 'to get to you'
I was on the Pacific Highway, the F3, Pennant Hills Road, M2, M7 and M4 but I got there
The set list changed slightly from last night. Dawn also has it and she has the names of what I call 'Irish Jig'
Remember JuneTo Get To YouBeautiful - he mentioned how the Irish accent has been voted/classed as the most beautiful accent in the world (I must agree with that
)
Don't Give Up Instrumental with all of them on stage - Damien on the portable piano, Eric on guitar, Indi on violin and Kevin Kelly with the bodhran drum.
Ride OnDamien then mentioned the boxers that he had received last night and told the audience that they had 'Oh you have a lovely bunch of coconuts' on them - more gags
The mankini was spoken of also. He then said that Indi's boyfriend Rusty wants to borrow the mankini because it is Indi's birthday tomorrow
Annie's Song
Golden Line
Wicked GameINTERVAL
When Damien came back onstage he mentioned his new book
and held it up. He said how it was called Remember June too and that the album and book were related. He said it hadn't been printed yet and he had the only copy available and it was due out in April. Gave a brief run down of the book and that the setting is in Ireland which is why they have added the Irish element to the tour. It is all to fit in with the CD and the book.
Then he sang
Stay. He started off by saying that it was originally written at the time of the Beaconsfield Mine disaster and that he found that it fitted in well with the storyline in the book so it has been used and that the lyrics to Stay are in the book.

CryingFields of AthenryIrish Jig MusicRocky Road to DublinDamien then spoke of how that afternoon it was his turn to look after the boys. They also had some other children there. He thought that they would entertain themselves if he gave them some Lego to play with but oh no. He spent 3 1/2 hours dancing around with them. Dawn will give you more information on this.
Danny BoyIrish jig music22 Steps - inthis he included the lyrics that he sang for the wedding on Hamish and Andy. 22 steps down the aisle of a Coles store
and You'd review the books
I write but he has been singing those lyrics for a while. It still sounded good to hear it.
All I Want Is YouGoodnightENCORE
Forgive Forget - Indi has learnt this on the portable piano while Damien played his guitar. Maybe we will hear it more often at the gigs now. It sounded really good and I loved hearing it.
Hallelujah (audience request from before when he sang Crying) Damien had told them then that he might sneak it in later in the show.
When Damien was finishing the show with Goodnight and then he said goodnight to people as if he was going, a few people yelled out that he hadn't played Hallelujah yet.
Kaz, Michele and Dawn all thought tonight was better than last night. I was sitting at the back of the room since I only bought my ticket late in the afternoon, so I had a different listening experience.
There was NONE of the things that I mentioned from the first show as far as being raspy or not quite sounding right. Damien's voice was lovely from the word go.
I am still missing the big NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO in To Get To You, but I realise that because he is singing it acoustically (sp) without the big band then it needs to be sung differently. It doesn't stop me from missing it though.
I thought Beautiful was better last night but it was still lovely tonight. It is a beautiful song, so anytime Damien sings it it will sound lovely.
Absolutely loved hearing Don't Give Up. What a great song that is.
I don't know the horse song other than hearing it at these concerts, so I don't know if Damien did it justice or not but going by the audience reaction on both nights he must have done it right.
Annie's Song is always done well. It suits Damien's voice.
Golden Line was tremendous. Every song on Remember June is fantastic and being Damien's own work he just nails it.
Wicked Game involved the audience and had the Irish jig in the middle of it. It went down really well
Stay sounded awesome live. Once again, being from Remember June the comments I wrote before fit in here also.
Crying always sounds great. I have never heard Damien sing this poorly.
Fields of Athenry once again had the Irish members of the audience enthralled. There was a backing choir on the table next to Dawn, Kazza and Michele. They were enjoying it. At least they weren't like the fellows from the first night who had had too much to
I really love the Irish jig music that is happening through the shows. My Irish heritage is starting to come to the fore.
Rocky Road to Dublin is an upbeat song that every one enjoyed. Well I assume they did. I know I did.
And who doesn't like hearing Damien counting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Danny Boy - exquisite, better than last night. The audience were spellbound (except the couple sitting diagonally opposite me who
never shut up would often talk during songs
22 Steps sounded realy good and had the audience laughing at his Coles lyrics.
All I Want is You was another song involving the crowd. People tried, but just couldn't get to that squashed coconut sound
Goodnight was as usual a lovely song. I will love that song 'for all of time.'
Forgive Forget was a highlight of the evening because you rarely get to hear Damien singing it. I agree it sounds awesome with the full band but the adaptations done to play it tonight really worked. Indi playing the piano is a great idea. I think tonight was the first night that Forgive Forget has been sung in concert. (I could be wrong) More please Damo
Hallelujah. Without the drunks in the audience this was another hearing a pin drop song except once again those noisy people across the seats from me. I am not a violent person
but I very nearly
I don't think the male of the couple realises how loud his voice is. He needs to learn to
If there is one suggestion that I could make, and I say this in perspective from where I was sitting because when I mentioned it to the others they didn't have the same problem.
During Hallelujah and one other which I think from memory was Danny Boy, Damien's voice was crystal clear but Indi's voice sounded like she was too close to the microphone and it sounded a bit muffled. It would be hard to judge, but I would suggest just one or two inches further back from the microphone might be better.
I know I had a great time tonight. I missed sitting with my friends but I had another type of experience and listening pleasure by sitting where I was.
Thank you Damien for 2 fantastic shows at the Gaels Penrith
Please forgive any errors - it is now after 4 am.
